Gary LaChance Obituary

Gary S. LaChance

Deering, NH - Gary S. LaChance, a beloved friend, fiance and son, passed away on September 29, 2024 at the age of 61. Born on September 16, 1963, in, NH, Gary spent much of his life in Goffstown, where he cherished the tranquility of Glen Lake and created lasting memories with family and friends.

After graduating high school, Gary embarked on a career that showcased his dedication and passion for the outdoors. He initially worked at the County Farm and later found his calling in tree work. His experience at a local tree service led him to establish his own business, Alpine Tree Service. With an exceptional eye for tree management and a commitment to his craft, he thrived as both a foreman and an operator, often found up in the trees he loved so much.

Gary was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and spirit. His hobbies often drew him into nature, whether it was pulling wood from his property, biking on hilly terrains, or enjoying peaceful afternoons by the river. An avid skier from the age of three, he explored numerous mountains in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, often venturing beyond state lines for thrilling ski trips. Sunapee was a favorite destination for his family, where they would gather for barbecues and enjoy each other's company.

Throughout his life, Gary also embraced a variety of interests. He showed a particular fondness for Football Sundays, eagerly looking forward to games with friends and family. He took joy in visiting car shows, appreciating the artistry of vintage automobiles. Train rides were another memorable pastime, with trips taken throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, including a recent ride up the Cog Railway in March.

Gary's talent for barbeque was well known; he loved to prepare marinated lamb kabobs for family outings and even the simplest hamburgers for quiet dinners at home. Many will fondly remember his tradition of decorating "schwags" for Christmas, turning his yard into a festive display that brought joy to all who passed by.

Gary's passion for skiing led to a cherished encounter with Olympic skier Bode Miller, an experience he often spoke about with delight, reminiscing about their brief chat during an outing and the multiple sightings they shared.

In addition to his many pursuits, Gary is remembered fondly by his family. He leaves behind his fiance, Angela LaRiviere; his father, Robert LaChance; his brother, Ricky LaChance; his sister, Bronda LaChance Crosby, and her husband, Jeff; his niece, Katelyn Crosby Saucier, and her husband, Joshua; and his nephew, Jackson Robert Crosby. He was preceded in death by his mother Pauline D. LaChance and his brother, Robert Paul LaChance.

A memorial gathering will be held on October 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium in Manchester, NH.

Gary S. LaChance is remembered not only for his contributions to his profession but for the warmth he brought to those around him. His legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of family and friends who were fortunate to have known him.
