George Otterson Obituary

George Otterson

Concord, NH - George Michael Otterson, 81, passed away on September 17, 2025, in Concord, New Hampshire. Known to many as Mike, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community servant whose presence left a lasting impact on those around him.

Born on August 15, 1944, in Keene, New Hampshire, Mike was the son of William D. Otterson and Ruth Thompson. He grew up in the Granite State and graduated from Hillsboro Deering High School before earning his bachelor's degree in education from Keene State College.

Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, completing four years of active duty. His commitment to service extended far beyond his military years and became a defining feature of his life.

A longtime resident of Washington, New Hampshire, Mike deeply loved the town he called home. His dedication to civic life was evident through his many roles: he served as a Selectman, assessor, town moderator, volunteer firefighter, and ambulance driver. Whether responding to emergencies or guiding town meetings with fairness and clarity, Mike gave generously of his time and energy to support his community.

Mike also found peace and joy in nature-he loved being in the woods. That connection to the land reflected his grounded spirit and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Above all else, Mike cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Otterson; their children: son Kevin Lawrence and his wife Monique; daughter Katy Bushre and her husband Stan; and son Kristopher Otterson and his wife Deborah. He was a proud grandfather to Dalton Bushre, Ryan Otterson, and Alex Otterson.

He was predeceased by his parents William D. Otterson and Ruth Thompson, as well as his brothers Fredrick and David Otterson.

Mike will be remembered as a kind and caring man who listened with compassion and acted with integrity. He was loved by many for his warmth, humility, and unwavering dedication to others.

Mike requested no services. In his last days, he was taken care of by the Washington Fire/Rescue and the Granite VNA Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to one of those organizations.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

Hello, Roxie. It has been quite some time since we have seen you or Mike but we will never forget the impact that both of you have had on the town we used to call home. We moved "south" to Nashua 10 years ago and have watched the town slowly change since then. It will always be a place we loved to call home and we are grateful for neighbors like you and Mike who made such a difference. Sad for Mike's absence but grateful for so many years of his presence.
