Lynnett Louise Otterson, 75, of Lisbon, ND, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Fargo, ND.

Lynn was born on October 28, 1949, in Fargo and grew up on the family farm near Lisbon. She often shared fond memories of her early education in a one-room schoolhouse and proudly recalled her role in the daily farm chores – earning her keep from a young age. After graduating from Lisbon High School, Lynn attended the University of North Dakota, where she earned a degree in Education and was a proud member of the Tri Delta Sorority.

On January 2, 1971, she married her high school sweetheart, John Otterson. They celebrated 54 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons, Rob and Nate.

Lynn dedicated her life to others and approached every role with love, energy, and a sense of purpose. Whether it was her family, friends, or community, she gave selflessly. She rarely sat still – always busy, always giving. She found joy in simple pleasures and traditions including The Bowling Team, staying close with her sorority sisters, the MOB (Mothers of Broncos), gardening, and taking pontoon rides. She cherished being a "Boy Mom" and, later, a proud "Boy Grandma."

Her blueberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies were legendary, and she created a home filled with warmth, care, and the quiet assurance that everyone had what they needed. She was a steady presence on the sidelines of games, at Boy Scout events, and around the kitchen table, offering heartfelt advice.

Lynn had an effortless sense of style and an innate ability to make everything more beautiful. She loved refreshing her homes with a coat of paint, arranging flowers, decorating, wrapping gifts, and putting together the perfect outfit – all with a professional touch and eye for detail. Her creativity and positivity were truly infectious.

For 25 years, Lynn owned and operated JoLynn's Clothing/Boutique, where she combined her love for fashion with a commitment to serving her community. She later joined the Family Medical Clinic, where her caring nature continued to shine. Lynn was deeply involved in the Lisbon community, serving on various committees, including Economic Development and Civic & Commerce, and volunteering her time generously to help organize local events. In 2005, she was honored with the City of Lisbon Distinguished Service Award, a recognition of her enduring contributions and community spirit.

Lynn will be remembered for her energy, elegance, kindness, and the love she poured into every life she touched.

She is survived by her husband, John; sons Rob (Amy) Otterson of Horace, ND; Nate (Jennifer) Otterson of Littleton, CO; brother Bryon (Stacy) Olson of Richville, MN; sister Cinthia (Joseph) Murray of Fergus Falls, MN; four grandsons Chase, Dillon, Rylan and Griffin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and June Olson, and her brother Michael.

Visitation for family and close friends will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Lisbon.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon. The service will be live streamed below.
