Doctor Gloria Faretra

Whitestone, NY - Dr. Gloria Faretra, age 95, of Whitestone, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY.

She was born in Concord, NH the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Josephine (Barasso) Faretra.

She was a graduate of Regis College, and Georgetown Medical School. Her long career as a Child Psychiatrist included serving as the Executive Director of the Queens Children's Psychiatric Center until her retirement in 1999.

She was a member of the American Medical Association, American Association of Psych Administrators, and Distinguished Fello American Psychiatric Association. She was a long-time parishioner of the former St. Peter's Church in Concord, and the St. Luke's Church in Whitestone, NY

Gloria is survived by her sister-in-law Rita Faretra of Concord, Nieces & Nephews including Gail Snow (Russell) of Newburyport, MA., Karen Wetterer (Charles) of Hopkinton, Susan LaFermine (Van) of Grasonville, MD, Jane Goldthwaite (Douglas) of Concord, Sally Hayslip of Canterbury, Michael Fortier (Donna) of Contoocook, Kenny Fortier (Pam) of Chapel Hill, NC, and David Sullivan, husband of the previously deceased Marjorie Sullivan of Northford, Ct. and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Ralph Faretra, Jr. (Sonny), Irene Deschene (Maurice), Richard Faretra (Dickie), Eleanor Fortier (Kenneth), and her niece Marjorie Sullivan.

Gloria was devoted to her family and traveled back to NH frequently for family gatherings. She and her sister Irene enjoyed many years of traveling the world and she loved animals, particularly her cats.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 12th at 10 AM at Christ the King Parish, 76 South Main Street, Concord, NH.

Burial will follow in the Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one's choice.

The Waters Funeral Home in Concord, NH has the honor of handling the arrangements.

Dr. Gloria Faretra, was an Executive Director Extraordinaire, a Dedicated Psychiatrist at Queens Children's P.C, who never stopped advocating for the children/families. She kept the faith and has finished the race God planned out and purposed for her. I thoroughly enjoyed working with and learning from her kindness, compassion for humankind.
