Harold Thompson Obituary

- Harold F. ("Thom") Thompson Jr. 81, passed away 1/25/19 at the Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield, FL. He was the son of Harold F. Thompson Sr. and Shirley (Huff) Thompson. Born in Laconia, NH , raised in Bow and graduated from Concord High in 1955. He attended Nasson College in Maine for two years, then completed his Bachelor's degree at Boston University. He worked in Insurance throughout NE. He retired to Silver Springs, FL in 2000. He enjoyed photography, classic cars, motorcycles, kayaking and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife Ellie and stepson Ben Cook; his brother Douglas Thompson and wife Florence, formerly of Hooksett, NH, now of Silver Springs, FL; nephew Douglas Thompson Jr. and wife Betty of Suncook, NH; niece Rebecca Turner and husband Andrew of Franklin, NH; niece Rachel Patten and husband Sean of Allentown, NH.

He loved riding the twisty turning roads of NE on a crisp Autumn day, on his motorcycle or his 1964 Sunbeam Tiger convertible, stopping to photograph whatever caught his eye. Our hearts go with you on your final journey, dearest Thom. You're on your way home.

I had the good fortune of meeting Harold when we both worked for Maine Bonding & Casualty Company. We shared many good times together and talked often of motorcycling and his cars. Although we eventually grew far apart in distance, we always managed to stay in touch with each other over the years. He was a true friend and I am a better person for having known him. Rest in peace my friend.

Uncle Thom we will miss our visits with you when we come to Florida. Love you lots

Tommy and I worked together as insurance adjusters for U.S.F.& G. In Springfield, Ma. We became good friends over time, and we enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He was a strong believer in conservation. He owned many different firearms during his life, and was very proficient in marksmanship and safety.
As an adjuster Tommy was an excellent investigator, and a super negotiator. He was also ver fair with people he came in contact with while settling their claims.
Tommy made a difference in this world of ours. He will be missed.
My deepest condolences to Ellie and his extended family.
Sincerely,
John Sellig
