I extend my sympathy to you for your loss. My grandfather was a cabinet maker from the old country and would do work for Mr. Leisy Sr., sometimes I would accompany him to the Leisy home in Shaker Hts. and so met them. Mrs. Leisy would ask me to play the piano for her and then I would be rewarded with the best candied citrus rind ever. I recall a letter when I was in college having studied at Old Heidelberg and Mr. Leisy Sr. telling me that it was his birth place. I have two bottle openers with the Leisy name on them as reminders of 60+ years ago. Within the past two years, I researched the Leisy brewing history in Cleveland and have the feeling that it was Herb Jr's. research. May he rest in peace.

My sincerest thoughts, prayers, and sympathy to your entire family during this difficult time. Many years ago I lived at the same place he did and always enjoyed talking to him, his smile and friendly nature. It seems like only yesterday that I saw him out walking. In fact the last time I saw him I was congratulating him on finally getting a new vehicle for himself. I will always remember he and that old brown Volvo driving around town and his long walks. I will certainly miss seeing him around Concord. He was always in such great shape, I never would have guessed him to be a day over 65.
