Jane Morehouse

Concord, VT - Jane (Carlson) Morehouse, age 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Jane was born in Concord, New Hampshire, on March 2, 1933. Daughter to the late John and Gertrude (Tippet) Carlson. She was raised and educated in Concord NH, graduating from Concord High School in 1951. Jane married George Morehouse on June 1,1963. They made their home in Concord NH, and raised their three children there. She was active at Wesley Methodist Church for several years, teaching Sunday School.

Jane was a wonderful homemaker and always ensured her children went to school with a packed lunch which always contained homemade sweet treats, usually her signature chocolate chip cookies. Jane loved to bake, which was just one of her many interests. In her earlier days, she loved dancing, going to concerts, shows, shopping, as well as attending local sporting events. She also enjoyed traveling with George on his many business trips.

When George retired in 2004, they spent much of their time in Concord Vermont, his hometown, and settled there permanently in 2007. Jane adapted to the country life, and loved watching the birds, and all wildlife that visited their vast property. She also loved the beautiful mountain views that she could see from her comfortable front porch chair. She also enjoyed the occasional "wine hour" with dear friends and neighbors. Jane was a big sports fan too, watching many Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox games on TV.

Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, George Morehouse, and her 3 children. Eric Morehouse and his fiancee Karla Silver of Concord, VT, Peter Morehouse and his wife Andria, of Amherst NH, and Susan Morehouse of North Hampton, NH, her adored granddaughter Emily Morehouse, at the University of Connecticut, and her special niece, Brenda West and her husband Jim of Concord NH and several other nieces and nephews. Jane is also survived by her sister-in-law Judy Hooyenga of Kentwood Michigan. She was predeceased by her brother, John "Jack" Carlson, her sister-in-law Barbara Carlson, niece Debra Hooyenga, and nephew Brian Hooyenga, as well as several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful professional care-givers from Caledonia Home Health Care & Hospice for their in-home care over the past several months. Also, in particular, the family would like to graciously thank Jane's exceptional hospice care-giver, Donna Gray, of Newark VT, for bringing Jane into her home and for providing outstanding care, love, support and friendship during her final days.

A Graveside Service will take place at the Concord Village Cemetery on Prospect Street, in Concord VT at 2:15 PM on Sunday November 5, 2023, with Reverend Josh Abetti presiding. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the burial from 3:00-5:00pm at the Concord Community Church.
