Jeannine Currier Obituary

Jeannine Currier

Jensen Beach, FL — A Funeral Mass for Jeannine Currier, who was graduated from St. John High in 1959, will be offered by Reverend Richard Roberge of Christ the King Parish, 72 South Main Street, May 22 at 10 am.

Jeannine died March 2 at a hospice facility near her Jensen Beach, FL home of COPD. She was an antiques dealer and later served as office manager for a marine electronics company.

She was the daughter of the late Maurice and Germaine Currier, Hopkinton Road, at what had been a dairy farm and later was converted to "Currier's Cabins." As a teen-ager, she studied ballet at the Harriet Hocter Studio in Boston, Hocter having been the featured dancer in Ziegfeld movies in the 1930s and 1940s. After high school Jeannine joined a water ballet and toured the Nation for two years. She competed in the 1959 Miss New Hampshire contest and was named "Miss Miami Beach" in 1961. She had a cameo appearance in a Jerry Lewis movie, "The Bell Boy."

In 1962, she was married to Bruce Bentley and lived in Massachusetts for 10 years and then briefly to Lawrence MacAlister. She returned to Concord in the late 1970s before moving to Florida in 1979. In 1989, after a pilgrimage to Medugorje in Yugoslavia, she became a Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Martin de Porres Church in Stuart.

She leaves sons, Andrew and Christopher Bentley; their wives (Jodi and Wendy, respectively); a sister, Elaine Nelson (St. John High '63); a cousin, John Donovan (BBHS '64); grandchildren Aaron and Joshua Eckhardt and his wife Susan; granddaughters Ryan Bentley and Amber Sprinkle; and great grandchildren, Elijah and Luca Eckhardt.

Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery on Hopkinton Road.

To Jeannine's family, as you know she was a close and good friend of those who graduated in 1959 from St. Johns High School. We went our separate ways and followed our own paths. Jeannine followed her dream and was wonderfully successful. Like many of us, she married and left a family legacy for which we all can relate and be proud of the family she left behind. Most of her classmates saw her at our 40th class reunion. We missed her at our 50th & 60th. However, she has now joined her 22 classmates who have previously passed over and are now once again joined in friendship and love. We wish you a peaceful rest.

We were in St. High School with Jeannine. I remember the day she came in our sophomore year. She was a beautiful girl with red hair and green eyes. She seemed mysterious to me.
We now live a few miles away from her home here in Florida. I had visited her a few times in recent years.
May she rest in peace.
