Joan LeBeau Obituary

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Joan Elizabeth (Tretton) LeBeau, of Pawtucket, R.I., died peacefully Friday, March 14, 2014, on her 80th birthday, of complications from Alzheimer's disease.

She was born on March 14, 1934, in Central Falls, R.I., the second child of the late Eugene Tretton and Elizabeth "Lily" (Mayman) Tretton. She grew up in Seekonk, Mass., and graduated from East High School in Pawtucket, R.I. Joan was a long-time resident of Pawtucket.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard J. LeBeau; and by her children, son, Richard LeBeau and his wife, Joyce, of Attleboro, Mass.; daughter, Michele Berardo and her husband, Steve, of Concord; daughter, Dianne Ferry and husband, Don, of Poland, Maine; son, Michael LeBeau and wife, Keary, of Providence, R.I.; daughter, Denise Gavlik and husband, Joe, of Lincoln, R.I.; son, Thomas LeBeau and wife, Cheryl, of Warwick, R.I.; and daughter, Sharon LeBeau of Cumberland, R.I.. Joan is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two grandchildren.

Joan was a homemaker for many years, caring for her children and maintaining a meticulous household. In later years, Joan was employed by Josten's of Attleboro and by Star Market and Almacs in East Providence.

Joan enjoyed cooking, decorating, crafts, ballroom dancing with Richard, tennis, and travel to warm and sunny places. Joan loved to walk (very fast!). She loved the ocean, especially spending time at Sand Hill Cove. Most of all, she loved having all of her family gathered together around her.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, 114 16th Street, Room 2009, Charlestown, MA 02129, or Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
