Johanna Houman Obituary

Johanna Houman

Concord, NH - Johanna (Stohrer) Houman, 66, passed away peacefully on November 7th at Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord surrounded by family in the same room her mother occupied and transitioned in 2004.

She leaves behind her husband, William Houman, her four wonderful children, Eric Duntley, Heidi Sargent, Amanda Keesler, and Sam Diaz, and their families. She also leaves behind her siblings, John P. Stohrer, Jennifer Warriner, James Stohrer, and Jason Stohrer, their families, her aunt, cousins, work colleagues, and many friends.

Johanna loved learning new things. With that, she held a variety of jobs, from rental property supervisor to tax preparer to kidney dialysis machine technician, but it was her employment in the NH State Attorney General's Office and, most recently, as a Grant Administrator for Merrimack County that she enjoyed most. She served on the Concord School Board, a position her father also held for two decades.

A very talented individual, she loved knitting and crocheting for her family and donated her creations for raffles at work. She loved cooking, painting, and traveling, and as an avid reader of novels, had been known to read several books a week. Johanna also enjoyed her work as a volunteer for the Manchester Police Mounted Unit, caring for the horses she called "her boys," General Stark, Bruno, Eddy, and Valor. One of her recent accomplishments was becoming certified as a Weather Spotter, something she was very excited about.

She loved being a grandmother and was very much looking forward to the birth of her seventh grandchild, Ronin Keesler, in Washington. While she cannot be there in person, her brilliant love and spirit will be. Her other grandchildren include Kaden, Shawn, Seth, and Samantha Duntley, Deandra Sargent, and Elena Diaz.

We will all miss the great laughs, her excitement over the latest Ted Lasso episode or new travel plans, and her culinary masterpieces. Rest well, dear Johanna.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time to accommodate family out-of-state.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Manchester Mounted Patrol (www.mpdmountedpatrol.com/make-a-donation) are welcome.

I traveled across the country to attend a rally with our famous mutual hero in 2017. Just located this picture. She was an amazing online organizer for Bernie and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to meet her live in 2017.

Johanna was such a beautiful, kind soul. I will remember her each time I tuck my daughters in with the hand knitted blankets she gifted them, as they twirl in Christmas sweaters (also hand made), as I wear my Seattle shirt she returned from vacation with, and so many other wonderful memories of friendship. How very lucky am I to have had you as my friend! <3

Johanna and I got to know each other while serving in the Concord school board together. I found her to be a thoughtful and productive board member with a good sense of humor, someone who wanted to do the right thing for all persons in the school population. Her humanity will be missed. I am so sorry for the loss her family jas suffered. Surely you will all miss her terribly.

Johanna. A childhood friend and close neighbor. I am stunned today to learn of your passing. Just yesterday I noted you did not comment on MPR Mounted Police page and the new pony. I am sure you will be missed. I will miss your posts on your creations and the horses we love. Be safe in heaven.

Mr. Shadow & family, I will miss Jo aka M´Lynn as much as Jane, we were Trio and attended many, many concerts together as well as working together at the Attorney General´s Office. She was indeed a most kind hearted, talented individual and will be missed by many, many people. She will no doubt continue to watch over many of us from the other side. With much love and sympathy to you all, Dawn
