John Poirier Obituary

John E. Poirier

Loudon, NH — Mr. John E. Poirier, 61, of Loudon, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2021.

Born in Concord, John was the son of Armand and Ruth (Duhaime) Poirier of Allenstown. He was raised and educated in Allenstown and was a graduate of Pembroke Academy. He went on to attend NHTI and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the former New Hampshire College.

John was employed by the State of New Hampshire Dept. of Health & Human Services and also worked for the NH Healthcare Association. He stepped away for a time in order to pursue other ventures which meant so much to him. Recently, John took on a new role at DHHS that allowed him the opportunity to reconnect with many colleagues and offer his vast knowledge and support to the department.

Never one to sit still, John greatly enjoyed boating on Winnipesaukee, camping, golfing, skiing, and fishing. He was an avid music-lover, enjoyed listening to his favorite talk-radio shows, and always appreciated a good debate about politics. John loved telling stories and reminiscing on past memories. He had a witty and sarcastic sense of humor and an infectious smile that could brighten anyone's day. He was a strong yet sensitive man, with an extremely deep soul. Above all else, John cherished the love he had and the time he spent with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, John is survived by his beloved companion of 10 years, Emily Owens of Loudon; his children, Jack Poirier of Pelham, Delaney and Grace Poirier both of Concord and Tyler Guay of Loudon; his sister, Karen Dupont and her husband Michael of Allenstown; and his brothers, Mike Poirier and his wife Rita and Matt Poirier and his wife Amy all of Chichester. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, November 5th from 5 to 7 P.M. in the Petit-Roan Funeral Home 167 Main St. in Pembroke. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7 P.M. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association of New Hampshire, 166 S. Dear Emily, It is with great sorrow that I reach out to offer my sincere sympathy. John told me how happy you two were. I am glad you found each other and shared a loving relationship. Life is sometimes unfair as it was taking a wonderful man so young. Please extend my condolences to his family.

John was truly a great guy.  John was always calm, cool and collected regardless of the situation.  He would think deeply before speaking and always said the right thing.  His infectious smile always prevailed and would even make me smile right along with him.  It's hard to debate a guy who is smiling at you so I would usually concede even if we disagreed :-)

John and I grew up together just a couple of houses apart on Al's Ave, we went to high school together and even formed a business together, ACP Enterprises (the P was for Poirier) but we put it on hold when the 2008 recession hit.  John was both a great friend and partner to work with.  Easy going yet focused, great at his networking skills and always looking to make the world a better place.

As I too am 61 years of age, John's passing will now make me look at my own life differently.  I'll take the time that I have left and plan that time more wisely; more prudently; and more efficiently so that I get the most out of whatever time I have left. I hope that John's passing will awaken the minds of everyone who knew him and cause us all to be a little kinder, more respectful, more giving more understanding and more fun to be around.

Thank you John for the memories.  Now that it is too late, I regret not having spent more time with you.  I know that if we had spent more time playing golf together, I would surely be a much better player lol.  Set a tee time up for us in heaven, we'll play another round one day.  Miss you buddy :-(((
