Jonathan Steeves Obituary

Jonathan W. Steeves

Concord, NH — Jonathan W. Steeves, 69, of Concord passed away on November 25, 2021 at Granite VNA Hospice House after a courageous battle with soft tissue sarcoma.

He was born on November 20, 1952 in Stoneham, MA. The youngest child of Stanley Steeves and Charlotte (Williams) Steeves. He had several jobs in his younger years but was most proud to retire in January 2015 after working 30 years for Associated Grocers in Pembroke, NH. primarily as a truck driver. He met the love of his life, Margaret "Peg" Flint when she was looking for a partner to play in a cribbage tournament. Their first dinner and practice games together sealed the deal. They were never apart thereafter. Their time together was cut way too short but was filled with love and plenty of memories to cherish. His passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. It was never a bad day if you could be on the bike. They relocated to Conway, SC in 2015 where the riding season was longer but returned to NH for 4 months every summer. He enjoyed the best of both worlds. His illness forced them to return to NH permanently in 2020 to be surrounded by the support of family and friends. He loved playing pool and joined several APA pool leagues in SC. He was a 15-year member of the Elks, most recently at the Little River, SC lodge where he also played pool in the in-house league. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Christian.

He is survived by his "wife" Peg; daughter Julie Steeves of Manchester; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Marcia (Robert) Lehmann of Riviera Beach, FL, Barbara Wright of York, PA and his brother Edward (Monique) Steeves of Laissez, France, nieces, nephews, an uncle, cousins and his beloved cats Harley and Lilly who miss him dearly. Their summer morning walks to check out the river will not be the same without Dad.

A special thank you to John Partridge. His best friend, brother from another mother and riding buddy whose love and support he cherished. He will be waiting on the other side to continue the adventures. Thank you also to Dr. Eric Henderson at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Lebanon, Dr. Garrett Wasp of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Concord Hospital ER staff and Granite VNA and Hospice House staff. You were all absolutely amazing in the care and comfort you provided.

There will be no funeral. Per Jon's request, he will be partying with his family and friends at Alan's Restaurant, 133 North Main Street, Boscawen on Sunday, December 12th from 2 to 6 PM. Please wear your Harley attire and bring a memory or funny story you would like to share.
