Joyce Johnson Obituary

ALEXANDRIA – After a period of declining health, Joyce Francia Johnson, 74, of Cass Mill Road, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital surrounded by family members. Joyce was born in Boston, and grew up in Roslindale, Mass. the daughter of William and Doris (Gallant) Holm. She later met and married John "Jack" Johnson of Dedham Mass. Jack and Joyce moved to Medfield, Mass. and started a family, eventually relocating to Northfield, Bristol and ultimately, Alexandria.

Joyce led a full life and, in the end, she had no regrets. In addition to raising her family, she worked for the Medfield, Mass. Police Department for many years as a school crossing guard and later worked at the New Hampton Elementary School in Special Education. She also helped Jack run several successful business ventures over the years. During the latter part of her life, she loved spending winters with Jack down in Florida, surrounded by her "snowbird" friends from around the country, so long as she didn't leave New Hampshire until after Christmas which was her favorite time of the year. She was an avid reader and a good artist. She loved to paint, and sketch with pencil and charcoal, a skill that she inherited form her mother. Like her father, she was a die-hard Red Sox fan and loved nothing better than to end a day, sitting in her favorite chair, reading a book while watching a game. Joyce was the heart of the Johnson Clan and she will be forever loved and missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband Jack, of Alexandria; son and daughter-in-law, John "Chip" and Tammy Johnson of Northfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Gary Henry of Concord and Shelley and Charley Reynolds of Bristol; seven grandchildren, Nicole Pescinski and Michael of Gilford, Joshua Reynolds and his wife, Tiffany of New Hampton, Ross Johnson and his wife, Kaylyn of Northfield, Cory Johnson and his wife, Joy of Northfield, Brooke O'Rourke and her husband, Patrick of Concord, Brandon Reynolds and his wife, Kassie of Hill and Nicolas Reynolds of Bristol; nine great-grandchildren, Kali Griffin, Lucas, Colton and Kileigh Reynolds, and Ryan, Haley, Chloe, Ava and Lindsay Johnson; three brothers, Donald Holm and his wife, Elaine of Milford, Mass., William Holm and his wife, Evelyn of Norwood, Mass. and Anthony Holm of South Boston; two sister-in-laws and their husbands, Joan and Calvin Ramsay of Bristol and Stephanie and George Ings of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Emmons Funeral Home, 115 South Main St., Bristol.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Chapel of Holy Trinity Parish, 2 West Shore Road, Bristol.

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Alexandria.

Shelley Reynolds & family,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. She had always been really sweet & caring towards my wife & I, and had always inquired about our boys when they were young. Although we hadn't seen her in years, her kindness was something we never forgot.
