Judith LaFlamme Obituary

ALLENSTOWN – Judith "Judy" (Dionne) LaFlamme, 70, of Allenstown, died peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2015, at the Concord Hospice House surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was the wife of Roger LaFlamme, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.

Judy was born on May 12, 1945, in Manchester. She was the daughter of the late Roger Dionne and Catherine Quiet, and the granddaughter of the late Alfred and Mary Dionne by whom she was raised. Judy was educated in the Manchester school system and was a proud graduate of Manchester West High School. She then went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in History from Mount Saint Mary College in Hooksett.

Judy spent her early years as an elementary school teacher at the Dunbarton Elementary School where she introduced an after school ski program, bringing students to ski lessons at Pat's Peak. After taking time off to raise her three children, she re-entered the work force at St. Paul's School in Concord. She worked as the assistant store manager in the campus bookstore at St. Paul's for 12 years where she made several lifelong friendships and touched the lives of many students. Prior to her retirement, she worked as gift shop manager at the Manchester Historical Society Millyard Museum, and also at the Concord Medical Center.

In her spare time she enjoyed working in her yard and nurturing her ever-expanding flower garden. She enjoyed daily Scrabble games with her husband, going out to lunch at The Puritan Backroom in Manchester, watching movies, and playing miniature golf with her close friends. She cherished the time with her family during the holidays, and took pride in her extensive collection of Nutcrackers. Judy had an infectious laugh and loved to make others smile with her love for flowers, balloons, pink flamingos or by playing practical jokes. She was a kind, caring and devoted wife, mother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her unsinkable sense of humor and courage during her illness serves as an inspiration.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Mark LaFlamme and his wife, Kate of Dillon, Colo., Eric LaFlamme of Plymouth and Karen Beth (LaFlamme) Stevenson of Brighton, Mass.; and a grandson, Finn LaFlamme of Dillon, Colo.

Judy's family would like to thank the nurses at the NH Oncology Pavilion as well as Dr. Westbrook and the staff at the Concord VNA Hospice House at for the compassionate care and dedication they showed her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 10 School St. in Allenstown.

The family will be receiving friends and family from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the entryway of the church.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Judy's name to the American Cancer Society or the Concord VNA Hospice House.

The Waters Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

I taught with Judy in the 3-room school in Dunbarton in 1969-1970. She had the 5th & 6th grade, and I had 3rd. It was a small school with only 5 teachers, and we had a lot of fun. She was helpful in my new profession. i think I only ran into her once after that, but will recall that year with many fond memories. Sending your family condolences and comfort in your loss.

I am saddened to learn of Judy's passing. In her time at St. Paul's School, she was a loyal, hard working and most capable member of our community. Though she was a consummate professional, mischief always lurked just below the surface. We had great fun.
Judy is in my prayers, as is her family.
