Judy Dibble Obituary

Judy Stoops Dibble

Hopkinton, NH - Judy Stoops Dibble, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend and artist, passed away peacefully at her home in Hopkinton, NH, on August 10, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born Judy Nell Stoops on June 16, 1948, she grew up in Nappanee, IN with her mother Ruth and her brother David, following the early loss of her father when she was just seven years old. From a young age, Judy brought color, creativity, and joy into every space she touched-traits that would define her life and work.

Judy graduated from Indiana University where she met her husband, Charles Dibble. After graduation they moved to NH, eventually making their home and finding community in Hopkinton, where they lived for the last 5 decades.

Judy poured her heart into raising their three children: Justin, Megan (who passed in 2024), and Amanda, and later into doting on her grandchildren: Thatcher Sirota, Amara Nell Dibble Ogwuru, and Udoka Charles Dibble Ogwuru.

A gifted muralist, Judy transformed countless homes and businesses with her art-walls became landscapes, staircases became storybooks, and every brushstroke carried her signature talent, joy and imagination. Beyond her painting, she lit up stages in her church's Variety Shows and delighted in doing crafts with her grandchildren, always finding beauty and fun in the everyday.

Judy was known for her ever-cheerful spirit, her unwavering support of those she loved, and her wonderfully funky sense of style. She saw the world through an artist's eyes, and through her, so did those lucky enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 15 at 3:00 PM at 125 Brookwood Lane in Hopkinton, NH, where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the vivid life of this beautiful woman we loved so deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of creativity in Judy's memory-paint something, wear something bold, or make something beautiful with someone you love.

Donations in her name may also be made to The Make-A-Wish Foundation, in honor of a neighbor of Judy's who has always gone above and beyond in helping her and the entire family and who helps many others through this organization.

My Dad's youngest sister, Judy, had become a cheerful presence in my life after I moved to NH in 1985 and found her living near Concord! (I had met her in Nappanee Indiana when we were both kids.) Judy joined in our family celebrations for both my Dad's side (as her other brother, Ward, also lived in NH) and for my Mom's side (with many cousins in NH). I especially recall Yankee Swaps at her house or with her at Cousin Nancy's, usually in late December or early January. Such a card she was! Her passing leaves sad spot in my heart. Much love to all her family! Dottie

To Justin and family, while we didn't have the opportunity to meet Judy, she sounds like an amazing artist, mother, and friend. We are so sorry for your loss, and know that she will be missed terribly, but that you will also celebrate her legacy through the brilliance of your own lives. <3
