Kenneth Desjardins Obituary

Kenneth M. Desjardins

Concord, NH — Ken succumbed to metastatic lung cancer after a long arduous battle, on Friday 11/12/21.

He died at home with the unwavering care, love and support of his brother Francis at his side.

The family is emphatically grateful for the innumerable visits and support faithfully extended by Timothy LaPlante of Concord, over the past year.

Born in Germany to enlisted father, Marcel E. Desjardins and mother, Edna M. (Pratt) Desjardins. Raised in Concord, NH he graduated from Concord High School in 1976. He traveled across country and lived in California for a time. He recounted that people were more impressed with our state motto "Live Free or Die" imprinted on his vehicle tags, than the vanity stamp itself. He enjoyed vacationing in warm climates, panning for gold in northern NH and gardening with intense vigor at home in Canterbury.

He resided in Warner, NH for many years and raised a family there; a daughter Gabrielle Desjardins, a step-son Kevin Santa Maria and a step-daughter Kelly Santa Maria.

He gave sincerely of his time and talents to the Warner Fall Foliage Festival for many years. His vision for building was fostered in this small-town community and Ken went on to create Desjardins Builders, surpassing even his own dreams, building more than 120 homes in one five- year stretch.

More recently Ken resided in Canterbury, assisting his parents with aging in place for nearly ten years. He moved back to Concord in 2019.

Ken is survived by his daughter Gabrielle Desjardins of Greenland, NH. His stepchildren Kevin and Kelly Santa Maria. His mother Edna Desjardins, of Concord, brother Francis and wife Kimberly (Stillman) Desjardins of Northfield, his sisters Suzan Desjardins-Lank of Barnstead and Michelle Desjardins of Concord. Several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews whom Ken adored, and many cousins in the Concord area.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday November 22nd at 1:30 pm at Christ the King Parish, Concord, NH. No calling hours were expressly requested.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to: Visiting Nurses of Manchester & Southern NH - Hospice, 1700 Holt Ave, Manchester, NH 03109 or St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, 67 S State St, Concord, NH 03301.

Sad to hear, my children went to school with his step daughter and I sold several of Ken´s homes. One he designed on a napkin while at lunch. My sympathy to family.

My condolences to friends and all of the Desjardins family. Ken was a good friend to many and his personality was always a bright light in the room. I especially enjoyed reconnecting after so many years during the time that he spent in Florida. Ken's kindness and generosity toward others never wavered.
