Kenneth Gorrell Obituary
Ken was born on October 22, 1963 in Rochester, NH and spent his childhood in Northfield. He graduated from Winnisquam Regional High School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY where he completed the Navy ROTC program. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the U.S. Navy. He served numerous tours and was a decorated officer, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander before transitioning to the Naval Reserve and working in the private sector. He held positions as a defense contractor/consultant before returning to the family farm in Northfield with his wife Holli (Cook) Gorrell.
In recent years, Ken dedicated much time to mentoring at-risk youth, as a CASA volunteer, Guardian ad Litem and Educational Guardian and worked with the Boy Scouts organization. He was a gifted writer and penned a bi-weekly column on contemporary issues in the Weirs Times.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth M. Gorrell and Charity (Tonkin) Haines. Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Holli; and by his sister Shannon (Gorrell) Reid of Epsom, her husband Tom Reid and their children, Katherine and Peter; and by a close extended family.
A service will be held at the NH Veterans Cemetery Jan. 13. Additional details at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, Northfield NH. (www.neunfuneralhomes.com)

I was so saddened and heartbroken for you when I learned of the death of your husband, Kenneth. Although I did not know him personally, he certainly impacted so many lives in the way he lived his life through his military service, his work and community involvement. I'm.sorry that we've never met. Ken and Shannon grew up with my sister Barb Coon and I.
I spent so many wonderful times with Ken swimming in the pool, playing croquet and reading esoteric books like Voltaire. During the winters I remember skiing at Highlands and at Wildcat, band practices and tryouts for drama club.
You husband was one of my dearest friends in high school, and I miss our friendship.
You have all my prayers, love and blessings during this difficult time.

We met Ken many years ago through Niel Young's radio program. We have read many of Ken's very thoughtful columns with admiration for the passion he had to make this world a better place. I'm sure he will be missed by all who knew him.

Dear Holli,
I was Ken's God Father, his Dad's best man, as he was mine. We roomed together at UNH until he joined Sigma Beta. I met young Ken only once when he was a baby, then I moved away to pursue my career. I came back to the area about a year before Ken Senior died and we spent time together again hiking the Whites. I am very sorry for your loss. Charlie Sawyer

I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Ken, my daughter Korin & Granddaughters Olivia & Elaina loved him, he was their driver, although they don't understand why he is not driving them anymore they continue to speak of how nice of a man he was and how much they miss him, I met Ken a few times, some people you meet just leave a lasting impression; Ken was one of those people, rest in peace Ken and may Jesus bring your wife and family peace knowing that they had someone so special in their lives to share special moments with, may peace replace the heartache knowing you will be together again someday, may his memories make you smile❤God bless
