Linda Barcelo Obituary

Linda Barcelo

Concord, NH — Linda Marie (Vautrain) Barcelo of Concord, NH passed away on January 3, 2022 after a years-long struggle with dementia. Linda was born in Quincy MA on March 10, 1941. She was the fifth of five children, following behind Arthur, Nancy, Stuart and Karen.

Upon graduation from North Quincy High School, she went directly to a job she loved as a secretary at the office of the Great A&P Tea Company in Boston MA.

She met the love of her life, Paul Barcelo, shortly after entering the working world. They were married in May of 1965 and bought their first house in Hingham, MA. They started their family here with their daughter, Marlaina, and son, Craig, before moving to South Weymouth, MA.

She was a loving and caring mother with a great sense of humor. She loved family gatherings and was the driving force behind many laughter-filled family get-togethers.

Linda continued to fine tune her skills as a master organizer, planner and multi-tasker extraordinaire as she grew her career in the secretarial world on the south shore of Boston. She was driven and resourceful and gained much personal satisfaction as a woman in the work force.

A job change for Paul brought her to Texas in May of 1991. Though not first on her list of places to live, she and Paul had many adventures and great memories from their Texan days. Another job opportunity for Paul brought them to Florida in 1993. Linda started volunteering in the office at the Crossroads Community Church in Melbourne and officially became a "church lady" before long. She and Paul made many friends here as their involvement in the church and the greater Melbourne community continued to grow.

Linda retired in 2004 and that's when "the fun began" according to her. Linda and Paul spent the next ten summers in New Hampshire spoiling their grandchildren, Julian (Jules) and Olivia (Livy). Linda enjoyed traveling and sailed on many cruises over the years with Paul. Sadly, Paul passed away in September of 2014.

Linda headed back north to be closer to family. She found a new home and supportive community at Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord, NH. She loved games and was a fierce opponent in Scrabble. She loved creative writing, crossword puzzles, jumbles and 7 Little Word Games in the local newspaper. Linda was predeceased by her husband, Paul, her brother, Arthur, and her sister, Nancy. She is survived by her daughter, Marlaina and husband Wilson of Concord, NH; son, Craig and wife Stephanie of Salem, MA; grandson, Jules of Reno, NV; granddaughter, Livy of Cambridge, MA. She also leaves behind her sister, Karen and husband Al, of NC and NH, her brother, Stuart and wife Mary of CA and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends far and wide.

The dedicated and caring staff on the Rainie Unit and Melody Lane at Havenwood Heritage Heights enabled Linda to live her final years with grace and dignity.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Linda's memory to Havenwood Heritage Heights, 33 Christian Ave, Concord, NH 03301.

Our Sincere Condolences to Linda's Family and Friends. Linda was my childhood friend as we lived across the street from each other on Botolph Street., N.Quincy, Mass. We spent many hours together with other neighborhood friends sitting on Linda's front porch reading Comic books and enjoying life. Her family was always so welcoming. They invited us to watch their black and white tv--first one on the block in the 1940's! We re-connected by e-mail in later life and even met Linda and Paul a couple of times in New Hampshire. She had a great sense of humor! And was so proud of her beautiful family. My sister Carol and husband Richard Jack also kept in touch with Linda. Sadly Carol passed away in April 2021. Our thoughts and sincere sympathy are with you all. Love, Joyce Davidson Lewis and Russ Lewis
