Lois Hutchinson Obituary

Lois L. Hutchinson

East Hampstead, NH - Lois L. (Dow) Hutchinson, 87, a resident of East Hampstead since 1963, died Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, with her family by her side, following a period of declining health.

Born in Loudon, NH, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Dorothy (Jones) Dow and attended schools in Loudon. She graduated from Pittsfield High School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1954. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and Education from Aurora College in Aurora, IL where she met the love of her life, Ernest L. Hutchinson, who she later married in 1960.

Mrs. Hutchinson's teaching career in mathematics began at Nashua (NH) High School, and included stints at Dundee Middle School (IL), Hampstead (NH) Central School, Sanborn Academy (Kingston), Haverhill (MA) High School, and Timberlane Regional Jr. High and High Schools. She changed careers and began working as an accountant and bookkeeper at Braley and Walker, Inc. of Haverhill, and later as the business manager, board member and Treasurer at Berkshire Christian College, retiring in 2017.

Throughout her life, her deep faith in Christ and her talent and love for music were integral to her life. A longtime member of the Advent Christian Church of Haverhill, Mrs. Hutchinson served as the Choir Director and pianist for the congregation as well as serving as Youth Leader, Treasurer, and Deacon and presently as a Church Elder, and other committees and programs. As a young girl she sang on the local radio station with her brother and sister, and she also took part in the local 4-H program. A devoted wife and mother, she created a warm and nurturing home for her family and shared her love of music and her faith with her sons, family, and community.

She is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Ernest L. Hutchinson; her three sons and daughters-in-law, Randall L. and Sandra Hutchinson of Sun Prairie, WI, John E. and Laurie Hutchinson of Huntersville, NC, and Craig E. and Mary Hutchinson of Litchfield, grandchildren, Kathryn Hirschtick (Brian), Andrew (Mary Lauren), Courtney Dunteman (Conner); Jack, Sydney, Ian and Jocelyn, and great grandchildren, Finn and Riley Hirschtick, and Henry Hutchinson, and was looking forward to the birth of two new great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Roger N. Dow and sister, Myrtle L. Horn.

My condolences to the family. I remember Lois and the Dow family when I lived in Loudon. We went to the same church. The family was a great family and were involved in many activities. Lois will be missed by many. You must have many great memories of her. May She Rest In Peace.
