Marcia Smith Obituary

BOSCAWEN - Marcia L. Smith, 63, of Boscawen passed Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Pleasant View Center in hospice care after a short and intense battle with cancer.

She was born June 23, 1948 to Robert and Ann (Gray) Hasey in Augusta, Maine, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1966.

She was preceded on the road to forever by her parents, sister Carole and twin brother Marc.

Survivors include her husband Charles of Boscawen; her daughters Melanie (Kevin) White of Somersworth and Kami Beckim of Augusta, Maine; stepsons Todd (Kathy) Smith of Bow, Tim (Dede) Smith of Loudon and Thomas (Melissa) Smith of Dover, Ohio; grandchildren David White, Taylor White and Lily Beckim, Joshua Smith, Kayleigh Smith, Aaron Smith, Sarah Smith, Dan Smith, Justin Smith, Megan Smith and Christian Smith; two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law with their spouses and a large and loving extended family.

Marcia married Charlie Smith of Boscawen August 7, 1993 at her parents' home on Western Avenue in Augusta and moved to Boscawen to live. She was a very private person and enjoyed working outside in her flower gardens during the spring and summer months and reading current fiction or writing poetry in the colder months. Marcia had a gift with "oldies" music and could name a tune, the artist, and when the song was released with amazing accuracy and speed. She was an enthusiastic cook and loved to experiment with gourmet meals seasoned to the spicy preferences of her husband. "Nana" greatly enjoyed the athletic and academic achievements of her grandchildren and watching them grow and mature as they achieved milestones in their lives.

The family expresses its gratitude to the many individuals who cared for Marcia and worked so hard to make her final days peaceful and as pain free as possible.

Her wish was to be cremated.

There will be a private celebration of her life at the family's convenience.
