Marie Mead Obituary

Marie W. Mead

Concord, NH - Marie W. Mead, a long-time resident of Concord, N.H., passed away quietly on the evening of July 13 at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, Mass., after a six-month battle against Myasthenia Gravis.

Born in Keene, N.H. in 1938, Marie was the only child of William E. and Antoinette M. (Bergeron) Wheeler. She moved to Concord in 1942, when her father's employer, B&M Railroad relocated to the area. Marie grew up in the south end of Concord, attending local schools, and working at Beneficial Finance until she met and married her husband Everett R. Mead on Aug. 22, 1959, nearly 64 years ago. Together, they raised three children on the Concord Heights. Marie held several different positions through the years, including jobs at the March of Dimes, The New Hampshire Association of School Principals, and her favorite position at the Concord Public Library, as books and reading were a most enjoyed pastime her entire life. Lastly, she provided her accounting skills for her son's production company in Boscawen.

Marie was quiet and unassuming, as well as smart and hardworking, with a strong interest in history and fascinating places. She loved drives in the country, flower and vegetable gardening, and she paid particular attention to remembering birthdays with a perfectly selected card. A favorite pastime was balancing her weekly budget to the last penny. Marie enjoyed summer outings at New Hampshire lakes and day trips throughout New England. She was kind to everyone she met and well-liked by anyone who knew her.

Marie leaves behind her husband, Everett R. Mead of Concord, and her children, daughter Ann Mead Ash, wife of Scot, grandson Morgan Ash and granddaughter Emilie Ash Denver, PA., her son Michael B. Mead and his wife, Karen, granddaughters Brianna, Danielle, and Maura of Lancaster, PA, and her son, Matthew Mead, husband of Jennifer, of Concord, N.H., and granddaughters Michelle Lanteigne and her husband Adam Burgess of Quincy, Mass., and Renee Lanteinge and her husband Herman Silva, and great grandchildren Lexi Ruggerio, Cooper Silva, and Brewer Silva of Palm Beach Gardens Fla., as well as several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord, N.H.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 180 Loudon Road, Concord, N.H., on Thursday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m., where Marie attended church for nearly 60 years.

Graveside services will commence on Thursday, July 20, at 2 p.m., at Edgewood Cemetery, 107 Amherst St, Nashua N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America at 290 Turnpike Road, Suite 5-315, Westborough, Mass. 01581 or by calling (617) 465 0513.

Always enjoyed Marie when getting books at the library. Always helpful and very pleasant. My late Mom also mentioned many times how much she enjoyed dealing with Marie at the library. Don joins me in sending our sincere condolences to Everett and the whole family. Huge loss for you.
