Marion Frost Obituary

Marion S. Frost

Concord, NH - Marion S. Frost, 102, passed away peacefully on November 7 at Presidential Oaks in Concord. A lifelong resident of Concord, Marion was born on June 10, 1920. Her parents, John and Mary ("Minnie") Stevenson, named her Marion June Stevenson, but friends affectionately called her "Stevie," and the nickname survived until her passing.

Marion attended Concord schools and graduated from Concord High School. She was believed to be the last surviving member of CHS Class of 1938. (Notably, two of her closest childhood friends and classmates, Priscilla Page and Dorothy Nash lived beyond 100 and the three remained in close touch in their final years.)

Marion graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1942 where she earned a bachelor's degree in biology. It was during her UNH years that she met her future husband, Terry. They married in 1947 at United Baptist Church in Concord. They later became lifelong members of South Congregational Church. Terry predeceased Marion in 2011 Terry and Marion maintained a residence on Clinton Street throughout their 64-year marriage, and it was not until 2015 that Marion sold the property and moved to Pleasant View Retirement in Concord. She lived comfortably there until her health began to decline earlier this year, when she transferred to Granite Ledges of Concord for assisted living services.

Marion's favorite activities included tennis, classical music, playing bridge, and socializing with a closely knit circle of friends. One of her proudest achievements was the ascent of all 46 of New Hampshire's 4,000-foot White Mountain summits along with husband Terry. Before reaching retirement age she worked as a substitute teacher in the Concord school system and a medical librarian at the New Hampshire State Hospital.

Marion is survived by her son, John L. (Jay) Frost, of Meredith; her daughter, Janet Frost, of Rockport, Maine; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a future date.

Donations in Marion's memory can be provided to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, 54 Portsmouth Street, Concord NH 03301, or to Planned Parenthood of New Hampshire, 24 Pennacook Street, Manchester NH 03104.

I had the pleasure of being on of Marion (and Terry's) healthcare providers over the past 20 plus years. Marion always was beautifully dressed with the bling to match. She was a beautiful person and I send my deepest condolences to her family. Brigitte Cook
