Morton Hahn Obituary

Morton Hahn

Boscawen, NH - Morton Joel Hahn passed away on April 8, 2024, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, NH. Mort was a businessman, athlete, lover of animals, and lifelong New York Knicks fan. He was 87.

Born in Brooklyn, Mort completed college at Adelphi College in 1959. He married Beryl in 1965 and they began a family in Manhasset, NY, while Mort worked at Anchor Plastics. The family moved to Randolph, NJ in 1972. A few years later, Mort realized his dream of starting his own business, Morton Hahn, Inc., importing and wholesaling nature products. He was a lifelong athlete, competing nationally and internationally in college and Masters Track and Field events.

Mort and his best canine friend, Molly, moved to Concord, NH in 2014. He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Hahn-Burkett of Bethesda, MD, and Dr. Pamela Shervanick of North Yarmouth, ME, as well as four grandchildren: Aaron, Rachel, Ethan, and Chloe.

A graveside service will be held at the Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Randolph, NJ, on Friday, April 12, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mort's memory to the American Museum of Natural History in NYC or the ASPCA.

Mort. I will never forget you and our friendship. You entrusted myself and my kids with your beloved tree that you grew from a cutting you got many many years ago, and we will make sure it lives on for you just like you wanted in the letter you wrote about it. I hope you knew every day how much your Bentley Commons family love you. We will never forgot you! Love nurse Nicole....."the smartest nurse I know" ..... the one you waited for every day at the nurses station. Will always miss you.

I had the pleasure of visiting Morty with my dog Hugo back in 2018/2019. Then Covid hit and we couldn't visit. Before we could visit again Hugo passed and we got a new puppy. We gave him a very special name, "Morty". Morty (the man) was thrilled to have a canine namesake! We had several lovely visits with him. He lived an exciting life and he surely loved dogs. He said they were God's best creation. God Speed Morty! Fly high with all of the dogs you loved and give Hugo a big hug for us.......Kathy and Tim Burke

The friendship of our group started with the Track team at Madison HS. We
trained together, competed, and won or lost but always cheering to the end. We continued the friendship years later with 13 yearly reunions in Las Vegas. Oh, how we looked forward to a week with wives and family. Morty &
Beryl always a nucleus of group activity. Memories can never be erased.
