Nancy Sears Obituary

Nancy R. Sears, 91, died peacefully on November 23 in Concord, New Hampshire.

She was the wife of fifty years of the late Benjamin R. Sears of Bedford, Massachusetts. She was born Nancy Louise Woodbury Ricker in Brockton, Massachusetts, to Charles Sherwood Ricker and Esther Woodbury of Bridgewater.

Nancy graduated from Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts in 1946 and was in the class of 1950 at Colby College in Waterville, Maine where she met Ben Sears (class of 1952). They were married after her graduation in 1950. In 1958, they settled in Bedford, Massachusetts where they raised their four children.

Nancy received her Master's Degree in special education from Lesley University and was a reading specialist in the Cambridge and later the Westford Public Schools for many years. She was also active at the Hancock United Church of Christ in Lexington, Massachusetts.

After Ben's death, she lived in Bow and Concord, New Hampshire where she was a member of South Church United Church of Christ. Nancy was an avid reader. She enjoyed classical music, word games, sewing and knitting, and loved to laugh.

At the family's second home in Jefferson, New Hampshire, she was hostess for many gatherings and hikes in the White Mountains with family and friends.

She is survived by her son Ben (Brad Conner); daughters Jennifer Sears Supple (Bill) and their sons William and Jared; Rebecca Sears Cleary (Charlie) and their children Esther and Thomas (fiancé, Rebecca Gray); and son Nathan.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
