Naomi Charest Obituary

Naomi D. Charest, 80, passed away peacefully after a fearless battle with Parkinson's Disease on Sept. 6, 2018.

She was born in Dover on March 14, 1938, daughter of the late Meneleaus S. Diamond and Mary Gessis Diamond.

Naomi influenced the lives of many as a dedicated teacher at Walker School in Concord. She was a zealous traveler who was eager to see the wonders of the world, her most favorite being Greece. A few of her most favorite things were playing cards, scrabble, spending time with those she loved and Greek dancing. Naomi was referred to by those who cherished her most as Yia Yia. She will always be remembered with a contagious smile on her face, sharing words of encouragement and positivity with anyone she encountered. She was strong, determined and embraced every situation with grace.

She is survived by her sister: Virginia Neri; three children, Kimberlee Scarponi, Sandra Wood and Michael Charest; six grandchildren: Vanessa, Lindsay, Zachary, Tyler, Hannah and Ashton; and her great-grandchildren. A celebration of life is planned for Sept. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Windmill Family Restaurant, 172 Loudon Road, Concord, NH 03301. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The National Parkinson's Foundation, parkison.org

My son was one of the fortunate students of Naomi in fourth grade at Walker school. He was in a period of stressful transition and she was always very kind and helpful to him. So sorry to learn of her passing. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that she had a life-long impact on my son's life.
