I am saddened by the news of Nate's passing. I knew him from my time in Henniker - as a fine police officer, and a good co-worker at Danny's. He was a great guy, always smiling and cracking wise. We used to do pizza and beer night, and I am glad I got the time to get to know him. He was a gentleman, in every sense of the word. I'll miss you, Nate.

March 17, 2017

My deepest condolences to Amanda, Dawn & Gregory for your loss. My oldest memories of childhood in Hopkinton all involve Nathan. He was my closest childhood friend - we lived two houses away and spent countless hours in the forests and streams near our homes. He taught me which leaves were "checkerberry" leaves that could be chewed like a mint leaf, and other plants called "quicksilver" that look like silver when submerged in the rushing water of the stream. His love of nature continued into his adulthood and I'm happy to learn about his passion for conservation and greyhounds. We didn't keep in touch over the years, but I'm happy to hear that he became a police officer. We often used to pretend we were junior officer cadets, and report broken windows to Hopkinton's finest. Those same men in blue were probably delighted to have Nathan on the force so many years later. You will be deeply missed, my old friend.

Rest in Peace Nate. To Amanda and Nate's parents please accept my condolences. It was an absolute pleasure hiring and training Nathan as a Hopkinton Officer and I was certain Nate would be a shining star, worthy of the badge and Oath of Office from the first day we met. Nate was compassionate, caring, honest and brave, traits necessary to be a good Officer and Nate's service will now be sorely missed. My heart, as is many is broken, but you left us with so many fond memories Nate that those memories will carry us through.

I am in absolute shock and crushed by this news but I remember the fond, and many times funny memories of Nate to ease the pain. Rest in Peace Nathan, as you travel on your way to Heaven. We here left behind will survive remembering with fondness and love your kind soul.

My brother and I used to play with Nathan when we lived down the street from him in Hopkinton, but I lost touch after we moved away. It makes me happy that he ended up becoming a Police Officer, he was always the "guard" when we played pretend. It seemed to be something that he felt drawn toward. It seems that he grew into a remarkable man.
