Nathan Shurtleff Obituary

Nathan C. Shurtleff

Concord, NH - Nathan "Nate" Charles Shurtleff, 50, of Concord, New Hampshire, passed away on September 3, 2025

Born on February 26, 1975, at University Hospital in North Olmstead, Ohio, Nate was the beloved son of Stephen Shurtleff and Carol Thomas. He grew up in Concord, New Hampshire, on Franklin Street, where he continued to reside throughout his life.

Nate attended Walker Elementary, Rundlett Junior High School, and Concord High School, where he was known for his love of sports. He spent much of his youth playing basketball, baseball, and football, but found his greatest passion in lacrosse. Nate went on to play lacrosse at Plymouth State College, building friendships and memories that would last a lifetime.

Since February 2013, he worked as an IT Support Specialist for the Concord Hospital Health System, where his patience, knowledge, and kind spirit touched colleagues and staff across the organization. In addition, Nate was the founder and operator of RetirementCommunity.com, which he launched in July 2007. Through this work, he helped countless older adults and their families find resources and support tailored to their needs.

Nate knew what true love was when he met the woman of his dreams, Melanie. Their relationship was a source of joy, laughter, and strength, and those closest to Nate saw how deeply and completely he cherished her.

Nate had a fiery spirit and held true to his beliefs. He lived authentically, never wavering in his values, and those around him admired both his passion and his integrity.

He is survived by his beloved Melanie Parks; his father, Stephen Shurtleff; his mother, Carol Thomas (Gary); his brother, Seth Shurtleff (Suzanne); his sister, Kristie Shurtleff (Christopher); his half-sister, Ann Marie Silvasy (Jeffery); his nephew, Alexander Hickman; and his nieces, Sarah Shurtleff, Erin Silvasy, Lauren Silvasy, and Kristen Silvasy. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who were as close as family especially Derek Tibbetts (Lindsay) and their sons Eli and Aiden.

Nate will be remembered for his loyalty, his humor, his love of sports, and his gift for building connections with people from all walks of life.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Nate's life on Thursday October 2, 2025 from 3-8PM at Pembroke Pines Country Club 45 Whittemore Rd. Pembroke to share stories and memories of the joy he brought to so many.

Burial will be held privately.

I´m not sure of my age at the time, but I babysat him. I wasn´t that old only born in `67 but my sisters were friends of his mother.

Sad to hear of his passing and all the family, friends and the impact he made with his fellow workers not to mention the community he impacted.

Gone way too soon! May his love and passion for others continue to live on through the rest of the community that adored him.

I’m going to miss Nate so much. I’m grateful we had the chance to be together just a couple of months ago, even if only for a couple of hours. That time means even more to me now, knowing it would be one of our last. Nate had a way of making everyone feel welcome, loved, and understood, and his presence always brought laughter and comfort.
I’ll forever carry the memories of our childhood, the bond we shared, and the way his smirk could light up a room. Life feels emptier without him, but I take peace in knowing his spirit lives on in all of us who were blessed to know and love him.
Rest easy, Nate. You’ll never be forgotten.
