Patricia Stelz Obituary

On the morning of Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, Patricia A. Stelz died in her home surrounded by family following an extended battle with cancer.

Pat was born in Bronx, N.Y., to her loving parents Catherine and Ernest. She moved to New Hampshire in 1982 with her former husband, Leo and two children, Ryan and Tara. It was here in New Hampshire she earned her BA at UNH and Masters of Divinity and Social Work from Boston University while raising her children.

From 1997-2004, she served as the Youth Ministries Coordinator in the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire, where her passion in guiding youth in their journey in faith helped to reinvigorate the diocesan youth program. During this time she sought ordination attending Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Mass. Pat was ordained first as a deacon and then as a priest of the Episcopal Church in 2005. Her interest in interim ministry brought her to serve her priesthood at Holy Trinity, West Chester, Pa.; All Saints, Oakville, Conn.; St. Michael's, Holliston, Mass.; and, St. Dunstan's in Dover, Mass.

Even a brief summary of her life would not be complete without the mention of her love and adoration of her family and especially her grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her husband, Ted Rice; her son Ryan Brunk; her daughter-in-law, Joanne; her daughter, Tara Donnellan; her son-in-law, Martin; her beloved grandchildren, Chloe, Colm, Maggie and Nora; brother, Gerry Stelz; cousin, Lisbeth Riach; step-daughter, Megan Rice; step-son, Josh Rice; and numerous other extended family members.

The celebration of Pat's life and ministry will take place Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Main St., Nashua. All are welcome!

In lieu of flowers, contributions in the name of Pat Stelz can be made to the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire to be used for youth work.
