Richard Fleury Obituary

Richard Fleury

Allenstown, NH - Richard Fleury, 80, of Allenstown, passed away on Easter, March 31, 2024 at The Pines of Newmarket, where he lived for the past 2 years due to care he needed for dementia/Alzheimer's.

Richard was born on January 31, 1944 to the late Walter and Irene (Crevier) Fleury. He was a graduate from St. Johns in Concord and was then accepted to seminary at LaSalette of Enfield NH. Life then took him in another direction and he joined the Air National Guard, where he did basic training and served in the reserves for 6 years with an honorable discharge. During his reserves service, he met and soon married his wife of 57 years, Mary Frances Huggins. They moved to Allenstown in 1969, where they built their home with 2 children and 2 more in the next couple years.

An active member of his community, Richard was a volunteer fireman, ambulance attendant, and troop leader for Troop 97. Most of his life was spent driving a tractor trailer for Auclair and Yellow freight (many years). He enjoyed planning and attending retreats for LaSalette in Enfield. Affectionately known as "Pops" to his grandchildren, Richard cherished time spent with all of them. While he was unable to meet some of his great grandchildren due to his illness, he can now watch them from above. A family man, Richard enjoyed time with his family at amusement parks (rollercoaster #1), summers at beach rental and special occasions. Easter was one of his favorite holidays when he would do his annual Easter egg hunt with candy and money eggs, complete with a map to locate them. There always seemed to be one missing, but never a money egg. He was a Spiritual man through his life as a Christian at St. John's in Allenstown, where he would lecture later in life until his illness wouldn't let him remember his sermon. Only God knows if that is why he rose to Heaven on Easter. He will truly be missed by all who knew him in this life while here on earth. We love you and will see you in our dreams and keep you within our hearts and memories.

In addition to his beloved wife, Richard is survived by his four children, Lisa (Howard) Komm, Jeff Fleury, Amy (Chris) D'Auria, and Erik Fleury; grandchildren, Nate, Travis, Brittany, Bryana, Alexis, Christina, Zack, Amanda, and Alex; 12 greatgrandchildren; and three siblings, Lorraine Young, Larry Fleury, and Denise Call.

Thank you to all who cared for him at the end of his life.
