Richard Neilson Obituary

Richard E. Neilson

Nashua, NH - Richard "Rick" Neilson, 81, passed away on June 9, 2025 after a long illness. Rick was the son of the late Perley Neilson and Bernice (Funk) Procopio and Joseph Procopio. Born and raised in Pittsfield, MA, Rick attended Pittsfield High School class of 1962. He was a gifted carpenter who worked at Goodrich and Sons for several years before enlisting in the Navy. Rick was deployed for a tour of duty during the Vietnam war before being honorably discharged in 1970. He later moved to Nashua, NH where he worked in maintenance for WR Grace until he retired. Rick was an avid hunter and enjoyed putting his skills as a finish carpenter to good use throughout his home. He is survived by his son, Christopher Neilson (wife Debbie) of Penacook, NH and his grandchildren Alexis and Cameron Neilson. His sister, Carol Phelps, his brother, Eric Procopio and longtime companion, Chrystene Nickerson as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sheila Mercuri. There will be no calling hours. Graveside service and burial will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 12:00pm at the Boscawen Veterans Cemetary, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen, NH.
