Robert Audette Obituary

Robert (Bob) Audette, 84, passed away at Hospice House on March 26, 2012. He was born in Penacook on Aug. 17, 1927, and lived there until he graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School.

Bob joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 on Aug. 17, 1944. He trained at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Sampson, N.Y. During World War II he served aboard the USS Osage LSV-3 as Seaman 2nd class in the South Pacific, landing at the ports of Pearl Harbor, Okinawa, Saipan, Guam and Japan. Bob received the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal. He was also the recipient of a Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in June of 1946.

He joined the U.S. Army on Jan. 5, 1949, during the Korean War. He was Sergeant First Class in the 504th AAA Bn, graduating March 31, 1951, from the Guided Missiles Branch School in Fort Bliss, Texas, as a T-33 Range Operator, Class #1 Radar Forman. He was stationed at Fort Tilden, N.Y., and Provincetown, Mass. He was honorably discharged Jan. 4, 1952.

Bob worked at Pitco Frialator Inc. in Bow for 45 years. After his retirement he worked part time for several years at Sam's Club in Concord and K-Mart in Hooksett. He and his wife resided in Hooksett for 40 years before moving to Concord in 2005. Bob was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and enjoyed playing cribbage.

He was a member of American Legion Post #37 in Hooksett for 47 years, serving as Chaplain for 22 years. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #1631 in Concord.

Mr. Audette was the son of Louis and Mary (Nerbonne) Audette. He was predeceased by his brothers Alfred and Henry. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Elizabeth (Libby) Cushing Audette, his sons Robert A. Audette, Bruce W. Audette, Frank Littlefield, daughters Linda Woodhead, Barbara Severance and her husband Jim, and his beloved grandchildren Robert, Joshua, Douglas, James, Michelle, Renee, and soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter Sophia Elizabeth. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends at Horseshoe Pond Place in Concord.

There will be no calling hours. Cremation services provided by Cremation Society of NH. A military and memorial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Penacook on Friday, March 30, at noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift to Hospice House may be sent to Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association (CRVNA), 30 Pillsbury St, Concord, 03301.
