Robert Gile

Robert Gile, 73, died suddenly at Concord Hospital Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. He was the son of the late Maurice Gile and the recently departed Dorothy Jeannette (Forest) Charles of Melrose, Mass.

A native of Stoneham, Mass., Bob enlisted in the Air Force and saw much of the western United States from the air while stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas, at Sheppard Air Base. When he returned home, he met his wife of 44 years, Deborah (Daniel) Gile. They surprised their suburban families with a shared interest in small scale farming, ultimately moving to a 20 acre property in Hillsboro, where they raised assorted livestock and established Hillsborough Trout Farm.

Bob was the president of Gile Foil Stamping, Inc., located in Amherst, which was in operation for 27 years. Specializing in gold stamping, embossing and holograms, he, his son Clay, and their talented crew produced many award winning pieces and product packaging recognized around the world.

In retirement, Bob found immense joy in his five grandchildren, Ally, Paige, Caylin, Logan and Lena, and he often participated in cribbage and poker matches with new found friends. His sense of humor made him one of the community's colorful senior citizens and he will be missed at his traditional hangouts.

He is survived by his wife; their son, Clayton Gile of Manchester; and daughter, Shannon Gile of Penacook; siblings, Norma Smith of Atkinson, Carol Pigott of Burlington, Mass., Kevin Gile of Tyngsboro, Mass. and Dorothy Charles of Chelmsford, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather Friday, Oct. 11, at 12 p.m. at the Cremation Society of NH, 172 King St. in Boscawen.

A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. in the Cremation Society chapel and burial will follow at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
