Susan D. Pillsbury

Concord, NH - Susan D. Pillsbury, 86, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at Havenwood-Heritage Heights in Concord, NH, following a period of declining health.

Born on April 9, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, Susan was the daughter of the late Harry and Minnie (Owen) McDevitt. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and later settled into her most cherished role as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was married to Jack W. Pillsbury until his passing in 1997. Susan became a valued member of the Boscawen community after relocating with her family in 1971, where she enjoyed her involvement with the Boscawen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, forming many community connections and lasting friendships.

Once her children were grown, Susan began a second career in Human Resources at Pitco Frialator, where she was admired for her compassion and willingness to help others.

Susan had a deep love for life's simple pleasures. A talented and passionate crafter, she was especially known for her beautifully hand-made greeting cards, which she shared generously with loved ones. She also enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, gatherings with the Red Hat Society and playing Mahjongg. She traveled with family and friends later in life and enjoyed many amazing trips, cherishing the experiences and memories made along the way. Time spent near her koi pond brought her peace, and time spent with family and friends brought her great joy.

She is fondly remembered for her dry sense of humor and spunky wit that left everyone smiling!

Susan is survived by her sons, John Pillsbury of Contoocook and James Pillsbury and wife Rebecca of Chichester; her daughter Rhonda Chase and husband Brian of Concord; grandchildren Whitney Cloutier, Lindsey Krieger, Rachel and Alyson Chase, and Carter and Mason Pillsbury; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4 to 6 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen, NH. A private cemetery committal will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date.
