Thomas Life Obituary

Thomas (Tucker) Moore Celebration of Life

Concord, NH - Sunday, May 11. 2025. 1-4 pm. The Broken Tee Restaurant at Beaver Meadow Golf Club, Concord, NH.

All who knew Tom (Tucker) are invited to attend this remembrance and tribute to his life.

As announced in early March, Tom died at his new home in Scituate, MA, with family by his side, on the 12th of January after a lengthy struggle with dementia.

After spending more than 35 years together in Canterbury, New Hampshire, Tucker and his beloved wife Linda Hassan, moved to Scituate in mid-September to be closer to immediate family and to a more extensive support network.

Born in Medford, Mass on October 13, 1942, he was the fourth of five children born to Madelyn (Hunt) and John R. Moore. He was predeceased by his parents, by his three brothers, Jack, Bill, and George, and by his former wife Carol Moore. His sister, Janet Pickering, resides in Manchester, NH.

In addition to his son Colin (Concord, NH and Brighton, MA), Tucker is survived by Linda's three children and five grandchildren. Brett Hassan Seidman (Aneela Manori) of Valley Glen, CA, and their two children, 8-year-old Riley and 2-year-old Maverick; Leslie Hassan-Seidman (Nathan Huber) and their 13-year old daughter Nova, of Santa Rosa, CA; and Emily Wood Hassan Seidman (Mario Santanna) of Ossining, NY and their two children, Ryann aged 8 and 5-year old Truman. Tucker was their adored "Grampa Tuckie".

He also leaves four Hassan brothers in-law and their families: David (Jane), Samuel Peter (Lin), Jim (Christina), and Aaron (Meredith) all of Cohasset, as well as more than twenty-five Moore and Hassan nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

After high school, Tucker enlisted in the Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Essex until his discharge in 1963, when he returned to school. He completed his BA in English at Salem State, and an MS in Counseling from Keene State. He was a NH Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

Tucker began his teaching career at Danvers High School. Following his move to NH, he continued his teaching at Henniker High School and became their guidance counselor until 1982, when he opened his first counseling office in Henniker. After moving his practice to Concord, he worked as a counselor therapist at Concord High School and was a member of the NH Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team.

He was an adjunct instructor in the Graduate Counselor Education program at Plymouth State University and at the School of Human Services in Manchester for many years. He dedicated the majority and remainder of his professional career to working with individuals and couples in his private psychotherapy practice in Concord, where he was a highly regarded and esteemed therapist.

He was a great dancer, a mediocre harmonica player and had a voice that (upon "papal" request), graced many a special church service with the Ave Maria in his early-mid teens.

A lover of Jazz, he was quite proud to have tended bar at "Lennie's on the Turnpike" in Peabody, MA where he had the good fortune to meet and hang with musical greats of the late 60's and early 70's.

He was an honorable, unpretentious and humble man, known for his keen perceptions, and impeccable ability to "read a room", with charm and a quick wit that provided levity, warmth and comfort. He was loved dearly and will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank the VA in both NH and MA, as well as Old Colony Hospice of West Bridgewater, MA for their compassion and care during his final months.

Mr. Moore was my English teacher at Cogswell Memorial HS in Henniker. In 1976, my senior year, he did a Tarot reading and I have never forgotten that experience, it was significant in my life, my father was battling cancer and the sincere compassion Mr. Moore had shown still leaves an impression on me today. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Rest peacefully

I am glad to have known Tucker, Carol, and Colin. My "kids" baby sat Colin. They were great role models and felt like family. I have many good memories of this wonderful family.

I met Tom (Tucker) during my freshman year in college and along with Jimmy DeFina and Michael Moran became fast friends, tracing to England, Ireland, and Scotland in the summer of our freshman year. It was a wonder adventure which included visits to many historic sites, a few taverns, and an evening attending the annual Edinburgh Festival that August.
We roomed together during college and a year or two post graduation in Salem and Marblehead.
We also worked together at Lennies on the Turnpike tending bar and hearing the greatest jazz musicians of the time.
I also vividly recall visits with he and Carol in Cambridge and how he loved his newly born son.
The last time I saw Tucker was when we returned to Salem University for a celebration of Lennie Sokoloff´s life which featured a tribute by Jay Leno who had performed at Lennie´s at the start of his career.
Although Tucker and I occasionally spoke by phone over the past decade, but due to distance and illness, we never found a time to meet for lunch or dinner and that I truly regret.
He was a good friend and I cherish my memories of him.

I was saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I attended Henniker High School (Graduated 1982) and he was my guidance counselor. I spent many days in his office talking about music while he helped me with my college applications. He was a huge help and his encouragement and advice was a big part of me getting in to every college I applied to. He was a bright light in my life. My heart goes out to his loved ones.
