Wayne Sargent Obituary

Wayne Sargent

Concord, NH — Wayne Gordon Sargent passed away at Hospice House in Concord on May 6, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Concord on April 30, 1938, he was the son of the late Gertrude and Arthur Sargent, Sr.

Wayne enlisted In the Army National Guard in 1960 and served his country for six years. He specialized in field artillery, search lights, and achieved expert sharpshooter status. After his service he went on to graduate from Concord Commercial College with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration.

Wayne always enjoyed working. In his early years he was employed by Mingolla Machine painting heavy equipment; the City Highway Department paving and repairing highways and roads; and for the Grappone Family building trailer parks. In 1976 he started his own business under the name of Penco Construction doing site work (driveways, cellar holes, septic systems) until his retirement in 2012.

He enjoyed being outdoors. He built his garage with his own lumber taken from his 20+ acre property. He loved working on his equipment, playing with his German Shepherds, of which he had three over the years. He enjoyed feeding "his" crows and watching the deer who had no fear of him. He also enjoyed McDonald's coffee and biscuits while sharing stories with friends, adding his quick wit and dry sense of humor.

Wayne is survived by his brother Hugh M. Sargent of Camp Verde, AZ. He is predeceased by his brother Arthur F Sargent. He leaves nephews Edward A. Sargent and his wife Melissa, Eric G. Sargent, Gary Sargent and his wife Margi; nieces Jennifer Sargent, Teri Lehtinen and her husband Harold. A special thanks to his cousin Donald Morey and his wife Candice for their friendship throughout the years. He is also survived by his loving partner in life of fifty years, Donna Craig.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord in Wayne's memory.

According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held for the family at a later date at the Old Hopkinton Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home of Concord, NH. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bennettfuneral.com.
