Henry Burgstiner Obituary

Our father, Henry Porter Burgstiner Sr. has passed through Heaven's Gates and entered into eternal rest on the 10Th of November 2025. He was the last cornerstone of our family and we will miss him more than words could possibly express, and we will miss him more than words can actually express as his departure leaves those who are left behind broken-hearted. Yet, we are rejoicing that he is at last with his Lord and Savior and in a new life which is never ending and with his departed love ones including his wife, our Mother/Grandmother Cynthia Anne (Cooper) Burgstiner. All that we are or ever hope to be, we owe them both.

Our Father/Grandfather was a Christian Man of his generation with extreme integrity, compassion and loyalty who had a great love for his family and country. He was a man of his word, and one you could count on for anything he could provide. He was a dedicated member of the old Isle of Hope Methodist Church and the Berean Sunday School Class until its breakup. He was a kind and caring gentleman who was respected by many who knew him, and will always be remembered for his accomplishments, unlimited generosity, quiet strength and humility. Our lives together were always full of laughter, love and foolishness with a good sense of humor. He always had a mischievous remark to keep you on your toes. His earthly presence will be missed by many, but the love for family and friends will remain in the hearts and memories of those he cared. Never seeking self-gratification, he simply gave all he had to those around him.

Mr. Burgstiner, a native of Savannah was born September 19,1945 the son of late Frank Justin Burgstiner and Jesse Etta Edwards. He was proceeded in death by his brother Frank Justin Burgstiner Jr sister in-law Carolyn L. Burgstiner, and the love of his life Cynthia Anne Cooper Burgstiner. A graduate of Jenkins high school and took several college courses, but never received a degree. Many courses of work, and a Southern Bell Engineering Course, he went onto Engineering Management in Atlanta. He retired 32 years later from Bell South and a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers. He also was a member of the Army National Guard and Army Reserves and retired as a Master Sergeant (MSG) with 28 years. He was active in several military historical organizations: Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Edward Telfair Chapter the first regiment in Georgia; The Irish Jasper Greens; active member of the Chatham Artillery and served as president 2021-22, and a Board Member for Several Years and Savannah Volunteer Guards and served as a board member. Deployed during Desert Storm as the Logistics G4 War Reserve NCO in the Third Army Headquarters, and instrumental in developing several logistical programs used prior to and during that war. In addition, as an active member of the Veterans Council of Chatham County, and he was also a member of the Georgia Salzburg Society.

He is survived by his three sons, Henry Porter Burgstiner Jr., Bryan Michael Burgstiner (Kim), Kyle Justin Burgstiner; two grandchildren, Devin Michael Burgstiner Sr. and Haven Jade Burgstiner Nolan (Taylor); four great grandchildren; Allison Lee Young, Aubree LeAnn Malcolm, Devin Michael Bursgtiner Jr., and Faye Nolan.
