Jean Wise Obituary

Jean Muchmore Wise, 103 years old, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Hospice Savannah. She was born April 13, 1922, in Lockland, Ohio to the late Miles and Marie Tegeder Muchmore.

Mrs. Wise was a member of Faith Lutheran Church until it's closing, then joined St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she has been a member for over 20 years. She worked for the Girl Scouts in Savannah. She was a member of the Wymberly Garden Club, the Hemerocallis Daylily Society, and several Bridge Clubs around Savannah. During World War II, Jean worked in the payroll department of Tool Steel Gear and Pinion Company. This company was part of the U.S. defense industry supporting the war effort.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Wise.

Surviving are her four daughters, Susan Feerick (John) of Concord, NC, Linda Phillips (David) of Watkinsville, GA, Sandy Huncke (Eddie) of Savannah, and Rebecca Hester of Savannah. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jennifer Whitmire, Jason Phillips, Stephen Thaggard, Michelle Jones, Tommy Feerick, and Alison Phillips, as well as her great-grandchildren, Grayson Whitmire, Carley Whitmire, Zoe Jones, Noah Thaggard, and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2025, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Burial will follow in Greenwich Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 W. 31st Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
