Richard Knight Obituary

Richard Freddie Knight of Savannah, Georgia passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025 at a nursing facility in Bluffton, South Carolina. Born in Savannah on February 4, 1942 to Loy and Thelma Knight he was a loving father, spouse, and dedicated to helping others.

He attended Charles Ellis Elementary School, graduated from Savannah High in 1959 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech in Atlanta. He was an investment broker for Merrill Lynch in Savannah and Hilton Head, SC for 20 years. He was a passionate and skilled photographer his entire adult life. He also dedicated himself to serving the poor neighborhoods in South Africa by volunteering for a food collection and distribution ministry in Johannesburg working and serving through annual trips to South Africa over a ten year span later in life.

He is survived by his brother, Ron Knight; son, Richard Knight Jr.; daughter, Kelly Knight; granddaughter, Hadley Knight; and grandsons, Noah and Jacob Knight. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Elizabeth Cantrell of Atlanta, Georgia.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 9:30am in Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah.
