Bobbie Dorvall Obituary

Bobbie Jean Dorvall, of Corning, CA, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025, in a Chico Hospital. She celebrated her 99th Birthday on July 18, 2025, with visits from her family. She particularly enjoyed the mocha that her grandson, Lance, had brought her.

Bobbie Jean was born July 18, 1926, in Red Bluff, CA, to Robert and Rosa Foord. She was raised in Corning, CA, and attended local schools graduating as Class Valedictorian in 1944. She eloped that same year with her high school sweetheart, Norman Russell. They settled in Corning where they raised their three children. Bobbie Jean was a proud olive grower for 70 years and was a lifetime member of the Native Daughter's of the Golden West.

After the sudden passing of her husband in December 1970, she later found happiness with her second husband, Clarence Dorvall, and they shared 42 years together before his passing in 2012.

In April 2018, she lost her home to fire and moved to WestHaven Assisted Living in Orland, CA. Some of her best days were spent at WestHaven.

Bobbie Jean was a testimony of endurance and had the capacity to get through whatever lie ahead. Her mind remained forever sharp and her memory of people and events never ceased to amaze her family and friends. She was an avid reader and loved to watch Jeopardy.

She is survived by her children, Andrea White, Corning, CA, Bruce Russell (Mary), Redding, CA; grandson, Lance White, Sacramento, CA; grandaughter, Jennifer Russell, Redding, CA; grandson, Ryan (Suzanne), Redding, CA; and three great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Norman Russell and Clarence Dorvall; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Palmiter; son, Gregory Russell; and grandson, Ryan White.

A private family service will be held in her honor.
