Benny Cook Obituary
WEST LAFAYETTE: Benny Cook, 66, of West Lafayette passed away on Thursday November 27, 2014 at his home.
He was born in Oceana, WV on April 29, 1948 to the late Christine and Seldon Cook. Benny served in the United States Army during Vietnam War and worked in the Coal Mines for 33 years. He loved to golf, fish and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Cook of West Lafayette; son, Travis Cook of Colorado Springs, CO; step-daughters, Teddi Hadrosky of Frazeysburg, OH and Brooke Plute of South Bend, IN; brother, Gary Cook of Kernersville, SC; brother-in-law, Gene Blankenship of Cyclone, WV; and a sister-in-law, Jenny (Victor) Hottinger of Plainfield, OH.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Donna Blankenship.
Per Benny's wishes a cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be directed towards Health Services of Coshocton County "Hospice", P.O. Box 1284, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.

Benny was a great friend in high school and after he graduated and joined the Army. We corresponded during his years in the Army and when he was in Vietnam. I will remember him fondly. He was my first "real" boyfriend. I have many wonderful photos packed away in my box of treasures. Benny will be missed by all who knew and loved him. I am deeply saddened and sorry for your loss.

Benny Joe became a part of the Wooten family when he was in High School and we loved him like a brother. Mom and Dad loved him as their own. We spent many fun times together and we have those memories to cherish. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all of us who loved him. Love, Grace and God's peace to all.

My thoughts go out to Benny's family. I knew Benny as Coach Cook .... He was the Oceana Middle School girls basketball coach. It was the first girls team for the school. We all loved him .... He was patient, funny and really committed to teaching us. I have nothing but fond memories of Coach Benny. Rest in peace my friend.

Dear Cook family-----I first met Benny about 60 years ago way back in Oceana, W. Va. and I was honored to call him a friend. He gave us a lot of thrlls while playing basketball for OHS in the 60's---and was an important part of a State Championship team!! Our prayers go out to his extended family and his many friends.
