Clyde Hamilton Obituary
Clyde was born in Guernsey County (Cambridge) to the late Frank J. and Ruth E. Robinson Hamilton on September 23, 1921.
He was a 1938 graduate of Plainfield High School, a veteran of World War II in the Navy medical department as a pharmacist's mate and a graduate of the Navy's Neuro-Psychiatric Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Clyde was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, American Legion, VFW, The Wilderness Center, Corpsmen United - USN and Ford Retirees. He was a life long reader of history and government. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State University football teams. Coming to Massillon in 1940, he worked 8 years at Republic Steel, and then retired from Ford Motor Co. in Canton in 1984 after 36 years service.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary B. Marlatt Hamilton, whom he married December 24, 1947 and passed away September 26, 1999; sister, Lucille Hamilton Shryock in 1995; and grandson, Edward R. Hamilton, August 6, 1993.
Clyde is survived by two sons, Lynn (Cheryl) Hamilton of North Canton and Larry (Linda) Hamilton of Jeffersonville, Ohio; three grandsons, Phillip Hamilton of North Canton, Mark and Stephen Hamilton of Jeffersonville, Ohio; one brother, Paul (Bessie) Hamilton of Newcomerstown, Ohio; and special friend, Madeline Yates.
Funeral service will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. in Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. David deVries officiating. Interment will be in Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, Ohio. Friends may call on Monday from 6- 8 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave, N.W. and one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
