Charles Lott Obituary

Charles Lee Lott peacefully left his earthly home for his heavenly home Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was born August 3, 1930, to Louis Calvin Lott and Nora Lee Holcomb Lott. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Archie and Calvin Lott and sister Betty Morris. He is survived by his wife Charlie Sue Lott, son Charles Kevin and wife Daphne Lott, children Mary and Ron Harris, Tracy Lewis, Jr., grandchildren Cody Lott, Wade and Jennifer Clare, Eric Kinzer, Tracy Dean, LeeAnn and Joey Slipher, Samantha Hanks, Jacob Hanks, and great grandchildren Tyler, Tanner, Slaton, Taryn, and Dustin, Isabella, Callie, and Grace Slipher and brother David and his wife Barbara and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Baseball was his favorite sport in early years during and after graduation from JeffDavisHigh School. In high school he pitched two years for the Hunt Tool Team. In January, 1950, he accepted a contract to pitch for Hammond Berries (a Class C affiliate of the Philadelphia "Phillies" Farm System). He was offered a four year scholarship to attend SW Louisiana Univ. but was encouraged by relatives to play baseball first and attend college later.

With the outbreak of the Korean War he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. After training he was sent to Europe where he served four years. Upon his return he attended SouthTexas Jr.College and then University of Houston and took specialty courses at RiceUniversity.

In 1954 he was hired by Baker Oil Tools in Houston where he worked 24 years. He was sent to Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1976 as Plant Manager for the Baker Plant there and was there two and one-half years. He retired from Baker and went to work for Team, Inc. in Alvin, Texas, as Plant Manager and then retired in 1995. He took a HoustonCommunity College course in home building and began remodeling several homes. He helped a friend build a few homes before building his own home in PanoramaVillage in 1997. At this time he and his wife moved their church affiliation from Houston to the Longmire Road Church of Christ where he attended until radiation illness made it difficult for him to attend.

Prior to his illness he enjoyed his second favorite sport - golf - at which he excelled with four verified holes in one and a double eagle. He often played on the Panorama course with friends and relatives.

Visitation will be at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, Texas, on April 4, 2017, at 11:00, services will be at 12:00 PM, and graveside services will follow. Minister John Helbig will be presiding.
