"A man of integrity walks securely." - Proverbs 10:9. There was no greater man than David Wayne Cromwell. A man who lived his life with absolute integrity, eternal optimism, unwavering devotion and abounding love for his friends and family. David's earthly journey ended peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 81, following a valiant battle with Parkinson's disease.
David was born on June 6, 1944, in Conroe, Texas to Paul and Thelma Cromwell. David was always proud to have been born on D-Day, as his father served in World War II, and he would have been equally proud that his life is being celebrated on Veteran's Day. David was a beloved brother to Paul Cromwell, Jr. (Jimmie), Bill Cromwell (Jody), and Donna Cameron (Keith).
In 1962, David graduated from Conroe High School - he was always a proud "Fighting Conroe Tiger". Following high school, he attended The University of Houston, but after a chance meeting with the new girl in town at Scott's Pharmacy in downtown Conroe, he followed her and his heart to Sam Houston University where he graduated in 1966 with a BS in Biology. It proved to be the smartest decision he ever made, for on January 21, 1967, he married that beautiful girl, Sharon Anderson. Theirs was a true love story, and after 58 years, he still lovingly referred to her as his bride! A year later, he found himself deployed to Vietnam with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research team. He returned home in 1970. During his deployment his greatest joy arrived, Kimberly Dianne. It is hard to find a father who loved his little girl as deeply as he loved Kimberly. Anyone that knew him saw the sweetness and pride he carried for her, a love that extended warmly to all of Kim's friends as well. Kim is married to Charles Miller and together they reside in Bellaire. They have two children, Trace (27) and Macy (24)-the absolute apples of their Dandy's eye. He was the proudest grandfather imaginable, never missing a musical performance or sporting event, regardless of the time, distance or weather. His family was always his greatest priority.
Professionally, David enjoyed a long career in real estate, developing beautiful communities such as Rancho Escondido, Crown Oaks, and Crown Ranch. He owned and operated Prime Properties and Real Estate Showcase, conducting every aspect of his business with the integrity and fairness that defined his life. He was a lifelong member of Conroe First Methodist Church, a member of Conroe Noon Lions Club, very involved in the CHS Golden Girls Booster Club, and past president of Montgomery County Association of Realtors.
Everyone who knew him loved him. He truly was the eternal optimist-never complaining, always smiling, and somehow incapable of being negative, even in the face of illness. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his tireless and devoted caregivers, Ursula Yarbrough, Carla Thomas, Kay Shields, Tarina Shoemaker-Franklin, and Jennifer Zubah. They would also like to thank Devotion Hospice for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 11 at 2:00 pm with a visitation starting at 1:00 pm. Cashner's chapel (801 Teas Rd. Conroe, TX) In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to:
