Ellen Odessa Beathard

1928 - 2024

Ellen Odessa Beathard passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, in Conroe. She was born June 8, 1928, to Richard Jasper Thomas and Bryan Hyde Thomas in Houston County, Texas.

Odessa married Calvin Cleon Beathard on January 8, 1949. They were married for over fifty years, until his death in 1999.

For most of her married life, Odessa was a stay-at-home mother and wife. Odessa ran a daycare for many years, and she was affectionately known as "Nanny" and "Granny B." She was loved by her babies and their parents. To this day, grown children that she cared for as infants still came by to see her. She loved seeing them all grown up and hearing what life had in store for each of them. Odessa took great joy in being with her family, especially at holiday and birthday gatherings.

Odessa is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Jasper Thomas and Bryan Hyde Thomas; husband, Calvin Cleon Beathard; brothers, Johnny Thomas, Will Thomas, Leon Thomas; sisters, Ruth Irene Thomas, Syble Thomas Temple, and Grace Dean Thomas Parker.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Lana Beathard of Conroe; grandchildren, Bryan Christopher Beathard of Lago Vista and Steven Michael Molk of Brenham.

Odessa was loved very much and will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Wellington at Conroe Assisted Living and the staff at Heart-To-Heart Hospice for their loving care and support.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas starting at 1:00pm with the Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow the service in Garden Park Cemetery.
