HAROLD GEORGE (PIP) PIPPIN, age 79, died on Saturday, August 5, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 4, 1938 in Kevil, Kentucky, the son of Howard and Ruth Ridgeway Pippin. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorthy Lee Shirley and brother, Clarence Eugene Pippin. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Childs Pippin; brother Bob & wife Debbie; sons, Robert Pippin & wife, Carol; David Pippin; Scot Hayward & wife, Melissa; and daughters, Cindy Payne & husband Rich; Laurie Rock & husband Barry. Also survived by loved grandchildren: Jill Pippin, Paige Pippin, Jordan Pippin, Brent Bielefeld, Mitch Stone, Justin Payne, Garrett Payne, Taylor Payne, Kasie Ellsworth (Chuck), Jessica Watt (Joseph), Lindsay Terry, Mackenzie Hayward & Courtney Hayward. Pip is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, grandnephews. Also to remember & treasure many travel adventures are lifelong dear friends Barbara & Don (+) Blanton and Sally & Aaron Wilson; as well as many dear friends, coworkers, & golfers. Pip was a Conroe Tiger football & baseball player & a member of the Conroe High School graduating class of 1956. He attended Blynn College in Brenham, TX. He spent 40 years with Shell Exploration & Production (Houston & McCook, TX), with the majority of his career as a Completion Specialist. Pip's second love was the golf course, whether it was Conroe Country Club or Palmview Golf Club, the fairway is where you could find him enjoying his sport & many friends. As a proud member of the American Petroleum Institute (RGVAPI), he served as treasurer & as a member of the API Scholarship Fund committee, as his passion was to see students attend college. Pip has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in McAllen since his move to the Rio Grande Valley in 1988. Special thank you to those that cared for Pip with their knowledge and love, including Helping Hands Home Health Care, Doctor's Hospital @ Renaissance, and Amara Hospice. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church (McAllen), on Tuesday, August 8 at 10 am. Graveside service will be at Cashner Garden Park (Conroe), on Wednesday, August 9 at 11 am.
