Funeral services for Joel "Buster" McCoy, 81, of Conroe, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe.
Joel was born on Sept. 15, 1944, in Conroe, Texas, and passed away on Nov. 3, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana, while returning from a family trip.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and later worked as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement in 2000.
Joel was a devoted husband, loving father, and true friend to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, patience, and sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Teresa McCoy; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Siobhan McCoy; grandchildren, Sierra and Julian; brother, John "Mickey" McCoy; sister-in-law, Clarissa, and her husband, Bill Eickenhorst; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and his little buddy, Fluffy.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Kathy, Dennis, Kevin, and Kristin O'Banion for their constant love, help, and companionship. You have been a true blessing to Joel and Teresa.

Joel and I worked closely together as Air Traffic Controllers for several years. He was a great person to be around and one of my favorite co-workers. Really sad for this loss.
