Joseph Klimek Jr.

1929 - 2024

Joseph Klimek Jr., fulfilled his life's journey on April 24, 2024, at the age of 95. He was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on March 10, 1929, to Joseph Klimek and Emma Godaly.

He met the love of his life, Joan Hirko and were soon married on May 2, 1953, at the Slovak Lutheran Church Of the Ascension in Binghamton, N.Y. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan; his son, David; his sister, Bea; and their parents. He is survived by his children, Joe (Jane) Klimek, Sharon (Thom) Stevens; four grandchildren, Sarah (Brendon), Daniel (Betsy), Kelly (John), Jenna (Michael); along with nine great-grandchildren; as well as his niece and nephew, Eileen and Nick.

Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Japan and Korea until 1952. Joe followed many paths which brought him to IBM in Endicott, N.Y. He retired from IBM in Austin, Texas, in 1990, after 33 years of service as a staff engineer in Product Development. Joe and Joan loved to travel while creating beautiful garden landscapes in each home they shared. As many friends and family know, his passions also included, bowling and playing pool. He was often found with his son enjoying a game of Eight Ball well into his 90s. His 95th birthday celebration included a couple of games of pool surrounded by laughter and an abundance of love.

The family would like to thank the staff and the many friends at Woodhaven Sr. Living in Conroe, Texas where Joe and Joan lived for many years. The love and care they received is something which we are extremely thankful for during their final days. We would also like to thank Devotion Hospice in Conroe, Texas for whose assistance and care for Joe was greatly appreciated.
