Larry Austin Obituary

Larry Lynn Austin was born on December 18, 1952 to Deodric Floyd Austin and Tommie Lou Mankins Austin in Bonham, Texas and baptized at First Baptist Church in Bonham, Texas on August 18, 1968. He attended Bonham High School, graduating in 1971. Larry began his college career at Midwestern University (now part of the Texas Tech University System) and then transferred to Southwest Texas University (now Texas State University) where he earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology. After graduation, Larry taught industrial arts for three years at Dripping Springs High School before starting his real estate career at Lakeway in Austin, Texas.

After being inspired by his time at Lakeway, Larry moved to The Woodlands in 1982, and went on to have a long, successful career as an entrepreneur and real estate developer in Montgomery County; with Teaswood and Madera Estates in Conroe, Texas being some of his proudest and most successful achievements.

Larry (or "Lucky Larry" as some of his friends would occasionally call him) had many passions. Notably, his family, his work, and living life to the fullest. He was unendingly proud of his wife and children, and always tried his best to support them in pursuing their goals and dreams. Larry loved playing guitar, hunting, fishing, and enjoying a party with friends and family. His big, beautiful smile and friendly nature touched and inspired countless lives. Larry traveled the world bringing laughter, music, and a little Texas charm wherever he went.

Larry was predeceased by his father and mother, Deodric Floyd Austin and Tommie Lou Mankins Austin, and his sister, Linda Dee Austin Morgensen. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly (Kim) Higgins Austin; his four children, Ashley Austin Vanar and husband Brad, Danny Ramirez, Ian Ramirez and husband Paul, and Madison (Maddie) Austin; his two grandchildren, Bailey and Mason Vanar; his sister, Laura Austin Leatherwood and husband Claude; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Morgensen and his wife, Lynda.

Larry is also survived by several nieces: Stephanie Leatherwood Parkinson and husband, Marc and children, Piper and Scott; Nicole Morgensen Runkels and husband, Dwight and children Andrew, Samuel, Ryan, and Grace; and Angela Morgensen Hewitt and husband, Clark and children Graham and Carter.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Interfaith of The Woodlands or The Pangea Network. There will be a celebration of life was on Thursday, September 15, 2022 beginning at 6:30 pm at his beloved Madera Estates at 3201 N. Frazier St, Conroe TX 77303.
