Martin Weldon Obituary

Martin Jacob Weldon, age 77, of Willis, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5th, from 6-8pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home on FM 1097 in Willis, TX.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 6th, at 2:30pm at the First Baptist Church of Willis, TX.

Interment will follow the service at Shepard Hill Road Cemetery in Willis, TX.

Martin Weldon, age 77, native and lifelong member to the community of Willis, Texas, passed peacefully from this corporeal body into his eternal reward with his Savior Christ Jesus in Heaven at Conroe Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Martin graduated from Willis High School with the class of 1965. He attended Sam Houston State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture in 1972.

Martin joined the Masons in about 1973 and achieved the position of Master of The Lodge 1976-1977 with San Jacinto # 106 Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Willis, Texas.

Martin had a very long career as a car salesman in both Conroe and Huntsville, TX. He retired as an employee of the State of Texas after years of working for the Texas Workforce Commission in both offices of Conroe and Huntsville, Texas.

Martin was baptized as a member of the congregation at First Baptist Church in Willis, Texas, during his high school years. He later rededicated his life to Christ in 1994 and renewed his fellowship with this same congregation, who are so very dear to his heart and purpose in life. His passion for this church was second only to his love of God.

In 1993, Martin joined Alcoholics Anonymous making the commitment to live a sober life - realizing that particular fellowship was paramount to staying on this path. He dedicated much of himself to this group as his personal mission in life.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Gillie Houseward Weldon and RN Elsie Lee Moody Weldon and his brother, Wesley Wayne Weldon.

He is survived by: sister Nelvon Weldon Peacock and (spouse) Jerry, sister Judy Weldon Lawson, ex-wife Talma McClain Thorpe, his son Gillie Wayne Thorpe and (spouse) Thomas Roy, ex-wife Debra Shannon Weldon, his daughter Lori Anne Weldon, his daughter Cristy Lee Weldon Krest and (spouse) Kathy, and wife Diana Farrar Weldon, and stepdaughter Laurie Henegan and (spouse) James with step-grandson Stetson, and stepdaughter Jana Pruett and (spouse) Danny with step-granddaughters Avery and Ashlynn, and numerous extended family members.

Dear family and friends, please leave your messages at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home website for us to find. These other websites should not be capitalizing on advertising and drawing proceeds through link sales because of someone´s passing. The Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home were very helpful and gracious with us throughout this event. I would hate to think that we miss your precious memories of my father because of pages like this scattering your comments throughout the internet.

I am so sorry to hear about Martin. I met Martin through my husband Ken Goff. They sold cars together. Also had a deer lease they shared for many years. Before and after they both went to AA. They spent almost every weekend at the deer lease. He was such a comfort and good friend. He is one of the kindest people. RIP Martin. JoAnn Goff Thomas

Martin is one of the finest men Bob and I have ever known. He loved his family. He loved his friends, and he loved Jesus most of all. We are blessed to have called him our friend! There´s no regrets, just lots of anticipation to see him again- when our Lord Jesus comes to gather His church. Love you brother. All sympathy to Diana and Martin´s family. Bob & Robin
