Carl Evans Adkisson, 83, of Russellville, Arkansas was born on August 4, 1941, and passed away after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, May 1, 2025. He was born in a small community in Gid, Arkansas, that he has always loved and remembered. He was the first-born son of Lorenzo Evans Adkisson and Zelma (Fitzsimmons) Adkisson Fudge.
He is survived by his daughter and daddy's girl, Tanya Carlene Smith (Bob Ed) of Dover, AR; two granddaughters: Ashley Dawn Anderson-Keeling (Casey) of Dover, AR; and Danielle Michelle Smith Hayes (Kyle) of Russellville, AR; and four great-grandchildren: Brett Cains (Alissa), Ian James Carl Anderson, Grayson Hayes and Kennedy Hayes. He has a great-great-grandchild on the way, whose name will be Janie Dawn Cains, and is survived by his favorite Aunt, Lauretta Fitzsimmons Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Yvonne Whorton Adkisson, his brother, Charles Thomas Adkisson, and his Mother-in-law, Pauline Smith Whorton.
Carl was an avid crappie fisherman and gardener. His muscadines were highly sought after by local wine distillers and lovers of muscadines. He loved spending time with his family and is also credited with being a long-time caregiver to anyone in the family that needed help. Carl had given his life to Christ and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Carl will be buried next to his wife at East Point Cemetery. He will be deeply missed by his family, and all those who knew him as a friend. Although gone from our sight, Dad/PaPa is still with us and always will be. Goodbyes are for those who love only with their eyes, because for those who trust in Jesus, there is no such thing as separation. As his 7-year-old great grandson Grayson said, "PaPa is having the best day ever, every day, from now on."
However, the crappie in Lake Dardanelle will breathe a sigh of relief.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Dover Church of Christ. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Pastor Darrel Solonka will officiate. A private committal service will be held at East Point Cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
